A/N: this story is coming to an end. I already have the next chapter done, I'll probably post it tomorrow. It's been a week since Mitch told me the truth he had been hiding from me.
He regrets his decision of keeping that lie lingering between us for as long as it did, but I wholeheartedly forgave him.
I get it. I felt the same way too when I first met him, utterly weak and terrifyingly exposed.
He chose to shield his heart behind that high wall of lies, it was a defense mechanism in a way.
We talk and text everyday, but I haven't officially asked him to be my boyfriend, yet.
It's Saturday, and I'm doing it tonight.
I asked Kirstie to text him that we are having a slumber party at my house. I purposely turned my phone off so I'm in no position to spill out anything that could possibly ruin the surprise I'm planning.
I went out buying some lovely red roses that are resting on the dinner table, right now.
Oh, I'm also cooking.
I'm not a super great chef but I can make spaghetti and meat balls for my Italian lover. I actually had to ask Gen at least twice to write the ingredients down for me so I wouldn't miss a single thing.
---
After I'm done cooking, I mentally give myself 10 minutes to grab a quick shower and make myself presentable for the occasion.
---
It's 7 pm, Mitch could walk in any second now.
I find myself starting to get nervous, even though I'm sure I have nothing to worry about.
I love him to pieces, he means everything to me, and he always did.
The door bell cuts off my trance of thoughts. I get up to answer it, but not before I step in front of the mirror to make sure my hair is in place and my shirt is buttoned up nicely.
I swing the door open with slippery sweaty palms to be welcomed by the beauty that lives in those big brown eyes, and the face that has been carved by angelic hands.
I gesture for him to walk in, after I close the door. I soon hear a gasp escaping his beautiful mouth, and then a slap to my chest.
"Scott!!!! I swear to God!!!! I'm so mad .. " he says hiding his face behind his tiny hands.
I step forward enveloping him in a sweet hug, then mumbling "surprise" while kissing his head repeatedly.
He hits me on the chest again lightly, "I hate you" he whisperes before he snuggles deeper into me.
Another loud groan slips past his lips, "Scott. I'm in a onesie. A rilakkuma onsie. Why did you make her lie to me!" he asks pouting adorably.
I chuckle taking his look in, I actually didn't realize he was wearing a onesie until he mentioned it just now. It makes him look even smaller and more adorable.
"You look cute, sweetheart. Don't worry about it! It wouldn't be a surprise if I didn't lie a little"bI raise my eyebrow at him smiling widely.
"I hate lies" he scoffs standing on the tip of his toes kissing my cheek. "I can't believe you made dinner" he then says pleasantly surprised.
"You better believe because we are eating it now" I tell him while I pull the chair out for him.
"What a lovely gentleman you are" he sits down, and I take the seat across from him.
---
We cleared our dishes, he loved my cooking and I promised I would cook more often, just for him.
We are standing in the kitchen now, just cleaning and getting things out of the way.
"Are those flowers for me?" he questions, a faint blush spreading across his soft cheeks.
"Of course they are, Mitchy" I tell him gaining a genuine smile back.
After we are done cleaning, I take his hand in mine walking us into the living room. He gasps again at the scene of balloons scattering around.
"Oh my god, these are so cute, Scotty" he says with so much excitement it makes my heart race in anticipation.
"Um, sit down please. I have a challenge for you" he just nods sitting down and looking at me to offer some more explanation.
I pull a little pin out and put it in his hand.
"No way. You want me to pop them?" he asks his jaw hanging and eyes widening.
"Yeah. Will you?" I scratch the back of my head awkwardly.
"Scott. I'm scared." he encounters looking down at the pin in his palm, then back at me.
"Don't be. I'll help you with some, but you have to pop the first one" I tell him grabbing the nearest balloon closer to him. "Do it" I encourage him clapping my hands together.
He carefully reaches out, leaning his head back and squinting his eyes at the sound of the first balloon popping.
A note flies out, then falls onto the floor."What is that?" he exclaims looking cutely confused.
"You have to find out yourself" I take the note and place it on his lap. "Read it out loud" I instructor him.
"You're the best thing that has happened to me".
He's blushing and smiling so big it makes my heart melt. He makes my whole being melt. I can't believe he's finally going to be mine again.
He continues popping the rest of the balloons, collecting all the notes sitting them down on his lap.
He glances up at me, and I can tell he's getting emotional reading the last note.
He arranges all the notes in a line, he reads them out loud together.
"Dear, Mitchy".
"You're the best thing that has ever happened to me"
"I would love to have you for as long as you would let me"
"Will you be"
"My boyfriend"He lifts his hand up to wipe away the few tears that slipped and rolled down his cheeks.
He nods his head at me sweetly, and slowly crawls into my lap, hugging me tight against him.
"Is that a yes?" I ask him while squeezing his small frame into me.
He pulls away cupping my face and kissing me hard on the mouth.
"It definitely is" he says.
