Chapter Sixteen - Don't You Remember Me, Honey?

"Jess!" My mom's voice was harsh as it shrilled in my ears as always.

"Jessalyn you worthless little whore!" Kyle screamed in my face, his voice hollering over my mom's. His fists clenched at his sides and he was ready to bring them to my face.. There was spit flying harshly from his grit teeth and I wanted so bad to cringe, but I knew all I could do was smirk at him with self satisfactory..

There was a body on the floor. Blood was oozing out of his gashes and spilling onto the floor in a puddle that surrounded him.

"Get in there and give that guy his money's worth while I take care of this."

I narrowed my eyes and held back the tears that were rimming my lids. I couldn't do this anymore.

The exact second that was running through my head, there was a knock at the door. Kyle glanced over angrily and decided to ignore it. Just as he got close and was about to spit in my face again the door was being kicked down full force.

The police.

Their faces were shocked at the condition of the place. There was three of them, each kept their eyes wide as they glanced around and held their guns ups, pointing in level with our chests. It was only a matter of seconds before they laid their eyes on the body sprawled out on the floor.

"Hand's where we can see 'em!" One of the cops spat and they stepped into the house further.

I raised my hands along with Kyle and my mothers. One went to search the rest of the house while the other too ran over and began to handcuff Kyle and Linda. That moment, everything started to go blank in my mind. I could here anything but my own thoughts and everything seemed so fast. They handcuffed my mother and Kyle in front of my own eyes and I wasn't scarred nor worried. I was relieved.

That is until one came back for me, I felt them pull my hands down from over my head and down to my tailbone. Before I could think, the cold metal was being secured around my hands and the officer was reading me off my rights.

I woke up in a sweat, my eyes bulged open and I gasped for air as I sat up. I was in Carson's room, I remembered it this time unlike the last. My breath was quick and my mind was spinning out of control.

When I glanced to my side, Carson was sitting straight up in the bed beside me with his back to the wall. There was this faint smile that pulled on the corner of his mouth and I couldn't imagine why.

That quickly faded into a frown, his sad puppy dog eyes coming out. "You were having a nightmare." He mumbled sounding concerned.

I blinked slowly and didn't respond. "Was is about your Mom?" He pondered as he ran a finger down the side of my face to get me to look at him.

It was first thing in the morning and I had just had one of the worst nightmares from my past haunting me, I was vulnerable. I didn't protest and tell him to get real, instead I just simply nodded and ran a hand through my tangled bed head.

"Do you want to talk about it?" He asked with a husky, morning voice. God, he sounded so perfect that I wanted to slap myself across the cheek for thinking it. Then again, I could always call Jada to do it for me because I know if she saw me wake up in Carson's bed next to him, she would free willingly bitch slap me.

I let out one big sigh before I said no.

Following him, I sat up and pressed my back to the wall along with my head. My hand flew up and rested over my heart that was still beating a million miles per minute. Without being about to control myself, I glanced over to Carson to find him already looking at me.
