She pointed to Vic's hand.
"When did that happen?" she practically shrieked. On Victoire's finger was a glistening engagement ring.
Instead of answering, Vic laughed and Teddy groaned.
"Jesus, Lily," he said. "You couldn't wait an hour? We were going to make the announcement at dinner."
Lily (and everyone else) started laughing.
Grandma Molly poked her head out the kitchen door. "What could possible be so funny that you are all still laughing?" she shouted.
Unfortunately, that only encouraged them. Finally, the resigned woman sighed and went back into the house.
Once again, the laughter died down, but a noise just like it came from the house.
"Oi!" shouted James. "Are you making fun of us?" That just spurred on their parents.
Harry opened the door still smiling, lifting his glasses and wiping his eyes.
"Time for dinner, kids," he called.
The resounding stampede echoed through Ottery St. Catchpole.
