Sasainako smiled at us like she was going to tell a fun tale to children, and I gave an involuntary flinch under her gaze that did not go unnoticed.
Every time I looked at her or heard her silky voice, every survival instinct in my body would fire telling me to run. To get the hell away from her before she had a chance to hurt me like that again. But there was nowhere for me to go as she stood in front of the door, a wall between me and freedom.
"I think that I'll tell a story to such good little children like you before I put you under my genjutsu." Good little children? I was definitely not a child. She appeared to be our age, but in a world where transformation jutsus existed, appearances could be deceiving. "There was a beautiful, young ninja in the Village Hidden in the Leaves. She was happy and well respected. She was on a team with a well-respected ninja, Team Fang led by none other than the White Fang of the Leaf himself. But then one day she lost everything. There was a woman who thought so highly of her skills that she somehow managed to kick the other woman off her beloved team. This new woman was named Nori Kimura. Distraught that this Nori had shoved her into the background, the woman returned home to be comforted by her loving husband. But when she arrived, her husband was nowhere to be found. She searched high and low, and was finally able to find him. He was out in a valley about thirty miles from the village, this valley, and he was mortally wounded. Left to die in the mud like a worm, the man who had killed him didn't even have the mercy to take him out of his suffering. With his dying breath, this man told his wife quite the tale. The husband had worked secretly for a man named Danzo, and he had helped this man create a powerful jutsu, a genjutsu. The Kisei Genjutsu, which is so powerful that it can bend even the strongest of people against their will and force them into doing whatever the caster wanted. But Danzo feared for his power and did not wish the jutsu to be used against him so he killed the husband to keep him from becoming a threat later. The woman was filled with pain and rage at the loss of her husband for such a petty reason, and she swore revenge on those who had hurt her and killed her husband. She fostered her hatred and became strong, and eventually she was able to amass a small group of loyal ninja. She built a compound in the valley that marked the death of her beloved and plotted the destruction of her previous village. It took four years, but she was finally able to steal the very same jutsu that had been the cause of her husband's death. Unknowingly, the village sent her own old team after her. The amount of joy that she felt when she captured Nori Kimura was unbelievable, but then the White Fang did something no one would ever be able to expect: he saved her and his other teammates instead of retrieving the scroll. He took the woman's play-thing away from her before she could get her hands on it, and it infuriated her. Eventually, the village was able to get the scroll back and killed most of her loyal followers, but the woman was patient and bided her time. She left the Land of Fire and wandered the world, waiting for the right time to pounce again. That's when she came across the aftermath of the Fourth Great Ninja War. There she found a multitude of plant-like beings grown out of the DNA of the First Hokage. She harvested many of those corpses before the Allied Shinobi Forces could realize that they were even missing and then was able to infuse their powers into herself. The pain ruined her mind, but the loss of sanity was nothing to what she gained." I looked into her yellow-green, flat eyes and suddenly knew where I recognized them from: the army of White Zetsu that I had fought during the war. I don't know how I had ever been able to forget about their terrifyingly lifeless gaze. "With her newfound power, she returned to her old hideout and rebuilt. Soon she was strong enough to steal the scroll again. Then she captured a good friend of the current Hokage's, and by putting him under the genjutsu was able to capture the son of the White Fang and the daughter of Nori Kimura, and revenge has never been this sweet."
