I woke up in the hospital.
Kakashi was sitting in the chair next to my bed, "You gave us all quite the scare, Kaiyo."
"Sorry..."
Sakura walked in, "Hello, you must be Kaiyo. We haven't officially met yet, but Kakashi-sensei asked me to personally oversee your medical treatment."
"Hello, nice to finally officially meet you. I'm guessing that you're Sakura."
"Yep, Sakura Haruno." She walked up and stood beside my bed, "I'm not going to sugar coat this, you came very close to dying, and it's going to be a long road to recovery. The strain of breaking through three of the Eight Inner Gates at once was so intense that it almost stopped your heart. And then there's your hip..."
I closed my eyes waiting to hear the worst, "Will I ever be able to walk again?"
"Hm, you may need a brace or crutches. But with the proper therapy and healing, I think that you should be able to get around just fine. However, I think that this is it for your career as a ninja."
"So long as I can still walk, I'm good. I really do nothing but paperwork these days anyways. The last mission happened because I was kidnapped, not because I was assigned to it."
"But, then you had a lot of other small injuries as well... Were they caused by senbon?"
"Yes."
"Whoever you fought had incredible aim, each one hit a pressure point."
"Well, I couldn't move while it was happening so it wasn't too hard for her to be on target."
Sakura's eyes widened in understanding as she rounded on the Hokage who was still lounging in the chair, "You didn't say anything about torture, Kakashi-sensei."
"Sorry?"
Sakura turned back to me, "This is... How could someone do that to another person?"
I sighed, "She really hated my mother so I think that it was in revenge, and she was totally insane. Speaking of which, is Sasainako alive?"
Kakashi shook his head, "No, you did a number on her. She died shortly after we passed out."
"Good. The world's a better place with that psycho gone."
Sakura rounded on Kakashi, "That reminds me, how do you know how to do CPR? You even used your change in nature as a defibrillator. I mean, you did a few things a little wrong, but overall it was close enough to save Kaiyo's life."
He shrugged, "I read about it."
"When did you read about it?"
I laughed, "He was hiding from paperwork and started to read one of the old medical textbooks that Lady Tsunade left behind in the office."
"Wait! Kakashi-sensei read something other than his pervy books? I've known him for years, and they're the only thing that I've ever seen him read."
"Miracles can happen." I turned and smiled at him, "But I'm really glad that you found defibrillation so interesting otherwise I would be dead right now. So, thank you, Kashi."
His eyes closed in a large smile, "You're welcome, Kai."
