(Altair picture) I swatted at the mascara brush my friend Mishell held close to my eye, she groaned and pulled back, glaring at me.

"Stop fighting or else I'm going to gouge out your eyes." She seemed set on doing my makeup. I wasn't ok with this.

"I don't want that yucky stuff on my face." I wined, she sighed.

"It'll cover up that disgrace of a face." I smiled

"But I like my disgraced face." It wasn't working, I was SOL in this situation. I sighed with defeat and her eyes light up.

"Ok. Now hold still." I did as I was told and sneezed a few times because of the huge amount of powdered foundation. As soon as Mishell finished I sprung from my desk chair and ran to the bathroom, looking at an unfamiliar face.

"I look alien, and not the good kind." I mumbled, walking back to my bedroom. Mishell smiled

"You look cute. Quit complaining." She was so girly. How we were friends was beyond me.

"I'm supposed to be manly, not cute.." I sighed, she made a weird sound and stood up.

"You look good. Alis will like it." My mouth twisted in a sour way.

"I told you we aren't dating." I hissed, she blinked.

"Then why is he picking you up?" She seemed intrigued.

"A school assignment. He insisted on me going to his place." I explained, she made that weird noise again and rolled her eyes.

"Sure."

I was going to protest but I was cut off by a horn blaring from the lot. I ran to my window and flipped Alistair off, walking to the front door.

"I'll be back soon Mishell." I called to her, rushing out the door and down to the lot.

"Hey Freaky!" Alistair waved, I growled.

"Shut up meathead." He just smiled and sat down in his car. I pushed myself into the passenger seat and tossed my bag at Alistair's face, he caught it and tossed it to the backseat, starting up the car. I huffed and turned a bit to face Alistair, he smiled.

"What?" He asked, starting to drive out of the parking lot.

"Why am I doing this?" I asked, he chuckled. "Cause you have to." I growled, but he just smiled and continued driving to his house. After a short drive of silence, we pulled up into his driveway, the area too silent to my liking.

"Let's just get this assignment over with." I mumbled, Alistair smirked and grabbed my arm, dragging me to the porch. I was sure I saw someone in a tree not too far from the house but couldn't investigate, Alistair slowly dragged me to his bedroom, shutting and locking the door behind us.

"Why lock it?" I asked, sitting on his bed and dragging out his comic books.

"Because, I want some peace from those bloody animals." I chuckled and looked out the window, I scooted back from it when a boy came out of a tree.

"So... you have brothers?" I asked, eyeing the boy cautiously, Alistair shook his head.

"No, I guess." It seemed to be more of a question then a statement.

"What do you mean by 'I guess' " I was curious now, looking at Alistair with eager eyes, he sighed.

"As in, we aren't really related, I'm just helping them gain control." Alistair said it like it was a normal thing, I shrugged.

"Whatever."

He stared blankly at me then moved to my side.

"I want you to obey me." He was compelling me again, so I nodded.

"Good. Now then, I have a secret to share." He was eyeing me cautiously, I gulped but nodded. Alistair smirked and leaned closer to my ear until I could feel the warmth of his breath on my earlobe.

"Do you wanna meet a vampire?" He asked, I nodded slowly waiting for him to continue.

"Well, I'll have you know that you're sitting next to one." I couldn't breath, my lungs refused to cooperate. He pulled away from my ear quickly and chuckled.

"That isn't funny, I just about had a heart attack." I breathed, he looked at me confusingly.

"I'm not joking, I'm serious." His tone let me know that he was in fact serious, I was speechless. Alistair found my shock amusing, I'd hear him laugh every so often.

"How old are you?" I asked curiously, he tapped his chin in thought.

"I've only been a vampire for eight years." He smiled, I nodded.

"Now, am I like, your slave or something?" Alistair grinned, I took it as a yes.

"You're crazy if you think I'm gonna listen to you." I sneered, he shrugged.

"Call me a lunatic, but you don't have a choice. I'm compelling you as we speak." He sent me his infamous smirk, I clenched my fist and took a deep breath to calm down.

"You're a lunatic." I mumbled, covering my mouth, he grinned again.

"See, you did what I told you, although it wasn't a direct order." I restrained myself from throat punching him and placed a calming hand on my temples.

"You give me headaches." I groaned, falling back on his bed and throwing a pillow at his head, he easily dodged it and with one swift move he was on top of my waist. I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

"Get off." I said calmly, he shook his head but got up anyway. Mishell is going to kill me when I get home, and all because I can't keep my temper in check.

"Nice job with the makeup by the way, but in my opinion you look better without it." He was complimenting me now?

"Whatever." I muttered to myself, he shrugged.

"Do you hate me?" Alistair asked, I looked up at him.

"I'm not so sure anymore..." I sighed. it was true, I think I might just only dislike the guy, but it could be the compulsion.

"Ok, it's not like I don't have any other haters." He seemed to be nervous, so not like him.

"Is something... bothering you?" I didn't know what I was doing but it seemed right, he shrugged.

"I don't know, maybe."

I sighed and stood up, wrapping my arms around his torso.

"Maybe doesn't work, is there or is there not." I was surprising myself, and he seemed equally surprised.

"N-No, I'm fine." He stuttered, I questioned why he stuttered and spun to face him. He was blushing, what is wrong with this guy?

"Ok then, I need to get home before Mishell throws a fit... which isn't pretty." I chuckled, he nodded and we walked out the house and got into the car. Within a few minutes I was jumping out of the car, but Alistair grabbed my arm.

"You tell no one about me, got it?" He asked with a serious face, I pulled my arm away from him.

"Got it." I sighed, walking up the stairwell to my apartment door, I could hear Mishell's voice and stepped inside.

"Hey!" She exclaimed, I waved at her and went to my room, flopping onto my bed.

"You alright?" She asked, I sighed but nodded, sitting up to look at her.

"I'm sorry, I stayed longer than I wanted to." She rolled her eyes and sat down next to me.

"I'm fine, your mom is cool anyway. A lot cooler than you." Mishell giggled, I laughed with her and laid back down on my back.

"Thanks for the self esteem boost." I said sarcastically, she shoved me off the bed and punched my shoulder playfully.

"Anytime Nai Nai." I groaned and held my stomach, pretending to be hurt.

"That nickname shall beith thy death of me." I said in a fake british accent, she laughed and rolled her eyes.

"So, how did it go with Romeo?" She asked, wiggling her eyebrows. Great.
