"Ginger, wake up," the voice of my boyfriend, Gian, rang out through my cabin.

I groaned, opening my eyes, looking straight into Gian's, "Ahh! Too close. Too close. Too close. Too close. Too close."

I pulled my blanket above my head, covering my face. He was way too close to my face and it embarrassed me. With my pale skin, blushing was very prominent on myself and I had no desire to give him the satisfaction of seeing me blush at him being as such a close proximity.

I heard Gian laugh as he pulled the blanket down, uncovering my face. He smirked when he saw I was blushing and kissed the tip of my nose before turning and walking out. He called over his shoulder that I need to get moving or else I will not get any breakfast.

That was it for me. I jumped out of bed, rushing to my bureau to grab my clothing for the day. I took a pair of brown trousers and shirt. I laced up riding boots and combed my hair out before walking out, squinting at the brightness.

I hate mornings. It is always the same here, wake up early to have a slight possibility of getting food. It is too bright outside, due to the sun just coming up over the horizon.

Weaving in and out of the higher ups who were already going to work (show offs. I wish I was born into this life) while I tried getting to the building used for our meals.

I walked through the doorway and immediately spotted my boyfriend and two of our friends, Heaven and Kane. I ambled over to them and took a seat across from Heaven. She had white blonde hair and red eyes. Her skin was tanned and she had freckles dotting her nose. Her boyfriend Kane had blonde hair and blue eyes. Like me, he had pale skin and no freckles. Gian had black hair and silver eyes. He has Italian in him somewhere in his lineage and you can tell by his olive skin tone. "Sleep in again, Gin?" Heaven asked, picking at her food, unenthusiastically.

"Well, I would not necessarily call it sleeping in, when I do not really sleep," I muttered.

"I guess you do have a point. I cannot believe you still have insomnia. I swear reading that book would cure it," she crossed her arms after pushing her food toward me, "Here, you can finish it. I had enough to last me until lunch."

"Oh! Thank you, Heav. I really did not want to wait in the line and risk not being able to get anything. I feel bad though because it's yours."

She shrugged, "Do not worry about it. I do not need much food to fuel me to train."

"True. Oh, Kane?"

"What do you need, Gin?"

"Any word yet?"

He cocked his head in confusion, "Um..."

"On... Apple? Any word on where she is?"

"Oh, no. Nothing yet. I promise you that I will tell you as soon as I have word on or from her. You need not worry a thing, Little Red."

Heaven and Gian often called me Gin, short for Ginger whereas Kane called me Little Red because I am pretty small compared to him and I have red hair. My eyes are green making me the walking personification of Christmas. Kane knows how much I hate Little Red which is why he calls me that. Every so often, he will decide to be nice and call me Gin.

I sighed. I really hope Apple comes home soon. I miss her. She was my first friend and I will never feel right without her by my side. I was not born into the life I live, so I was picked on a lot by the ones who were. Apple stood up for me and is practically my bodyguard. She is the best to protect anyone else. In this hierarchy, she is placed the highest, so many people fear her, for some pretty bad reasons, but uncontrollable reasons.
