After Gian said that Apple was awake, my memories left my mind and I looked down at her. Her eyes were in fact open. She stared at me with curiosity. Or maybe knowledge. Knowing her, she probably knows what I was thinking about.
'Lost in thought?' She asked weakly.
'Seems so.'
'What were you thinking?'
'Do not worry about it.'
'Well maybe I want to worry about it. I am curious as to what kept you in thought for so long.'
'Wait, how long have you been up?'
'Oh, only a few minutes. By the look on your face, I could tell you were lost in your mind for a while though.'
I nodded. She sat up and slid off her bed. We all gave her looks telling her to lay down again. She ignored them and stood up. Wobbling and shaking a bit, she was able to take a few steps forward before keeling in pain.
We all started over to her, wanting to help her. However, before any of us could get to her, she began walking again. She walked right out the front door, barefoot. We all looked at each other in disbelief.
Angel was the first to follow the idiotic blonde out the door. Then Sébastien and I followed him. Then the girl Fiona and the male Travis came. Then Ginger and Gian. Then Heaven and Kane. Finally Aspen and Kai.
Kai came up to me and rested his hand on my shoulder. I looked at him and he gave a small smile. He seemed to know what bothered me most. Today was the anniversary of the death of my parents and Apple almost died today.
He seemed to know that it was the anniversary, though I did not tell him when I told him the story. I just told him what happened. Maybe he just associated the fact that they were killed in autumn and it is currently autumn.
'Problem, Cox?' I questioned.
'No, no problem at all, Calnan.'
'I see.'
We followed Angel to where he believed Apple would be. How surprising it was that he was right. She sat on a fallen tree trunk at the edge of camp. She was messing with her amulet which was still around her neck.
He walked over to her, sitting to her right. Sébastien then moved forward, sitting to her left. I sat somewhat diagonally in front of her by Sébastien. The others sat around us. Apple did not seem to notice us. She sat, staring out at the camp.
Angel wrapped an arm around her, 'What is on your mind, Amnesiac?'
'I remember everything, why do you still call me that?'
'What can I say? It seems to have grown on me.'
'I find it funny you call me that.'
'Why?'
'The madness called me that. Coincidence, I think not.'
'What do you mean by that?'
She turned to him, 'You were posing as my subconscious all along, were you not? You acted as if you were a part of me. That is how you found me at the house in Paris. How you knew I wanted to find the men to get my memory back. You were doing it all, giving me hints as to who I was. You were helping me all along.'
'I appreciate you realising that it was to help rather than hurt. Now, tell us what is on your mind, Amnesiac.'
She sighed, 'I am just a bit worried.'
'About?'
'Running the camp. It will remain as ACCA. However, it will stand for Amiot Camp for Child Assassins. Sébastien is going to help me run it, and as he is the male, it should be in his name.
