About four days after we began our quest, we were on mainland Europe. We were heading to Paris as that was the place that Apple's assignment was located. That is all we knew of her assignment. No one had any idea on what she was supposed to do for her mission.
France is such a beautiful place. Even in autumn. I never thought that I would think anything would be beautiful in this season after everything I went through. I could not help it though. The countryside in France is beautiful. The way that the leaves change to reds, oranges, and yellows looks wonderful. The flowers that grow in the fall. It was peaceful.
Rather than looking where I was going, I looked around at the sights of the countryside. I had no idea what was getting into me. It was like Apple was in my mind and I was viewing everything as she would have. Maybe I was still a little sleep deprived. That was the only logical explanation for what I was thinking. I only slept a couple hours a night. I could not possibly have gotten enough sleep.
I still did not know the names of most of the people who were on the mission with me. The only ones I knew by name were Max Grey, Alexander Jefferson, and Kai Cox. Yeah, I am not very social and I did not plan on starting being social.
"Seems like you are admiring the beauty of France, huh?" Jefferson sneered.
I whipped my head to look at him, "What makes you say that?" I growled.
"Just the fact that you are looking at the scenery around you rather than at where you are going." He smirked.
"Oh, shut up, bastaird."
"What, did you just call me?"
"Oh, I am terribly sorry, did you not hear me? Was I mumbling? I shall speak up then. I said to shut up, bastaird."
"That is what I thought you said. You must have a death wish if you dare call me that."
"Me? Death wish? How absurd. I think that you are the one with a death wish."
"Excuse me? I do not have a death wish, you imbecile. I will fight you if you wish."
"Then you will die, are you sure that is what you want, Jefferson?"
"I do not like your tone, Calnan."
"And I do not like you. The feeling is mutual."
"Hey! Stop talking! It will slow you down!" Grey yelled.
I rolled my eyes and looked forward. Grey is too bossy. Plus, talking does not slow us down. At least I do not think that it does. I sat up straight, and pressed Mordecai to go faster. I was sick of being bossed around by Grey. We should not have a formation for something like this. There is no reason that we need a formation to look for Apple.

A few hours after my little talk with Jefferson, we were taking a break for the horses. I sat on the outskirts of the group with Kai, listening to the conversations between the men who wanted Apple dead. None of them had anything good to say about what was going to happen when Apple was found.
"She has not returned. She was sent out months ago. Where could she be?" one asked.
"No idea. She could be anywhere. If she is ignoring her duty, she knows the punishment," he smirked, "death."
"Yeah, if she is ignoring it, we will kill her on sight."
"Exactly. I really want to kill that ignorant bitch. She thinks she is phenomenal because of her name and skill. In reality, she is not. She is as ignorant as them all."
One pulled out a knife and started sharpening the blade. I gulped at the sight. They cannot kill Apple. She has lost her memory. If they kill her, I kill them. I swear to God, that I would do that.
