hallucinate

standing in front of peers
reading my own thoughts
on the paper we wrote
for a grade.
why this way?
speaking becomes slurs
and words blend with the lines
hearing static noises
and feeling terrible, and terrified.
whispers of failure and laughs
of who you thought were your friends
snap out of it
everything is back as it seemed
and i continue to read.
