Sooooo... wha'd you guys think of the last chapter??? Also, not gonna switch P.O.V.'s on this one. and I need a final answer, do you guys like when I switch P.O.V.'s??? Do you hate it??? Do you care??? Do you even read this??? >_< com'on guys I NEED ANSWERS!!!!!! Also, it's never to late to make a character, I will add your character into this series. I promise. I promise that by the last chapter in the last book, your character will have been in it, even if for just one chapter. And soory the last A/N was soooooo long. I had a lot to say. KK, now onto the book.

Chapter 9. A Fighting Tournament

I woke up, yawned and stretched. But when I got up, I could barely walk on my right, hind leg. I tried to hide the limp. I may be the first one up, but they won't let me do anything if I'm limping. I think about Leo, and I feel a different pain. Why Leo, why??? Why'd you go back??? I sigh. Woofer stirs. "Hey." I look at him, he starts to get up. "Hey" I whisper back quietly, as I don't want to wake the others. "You're limping." He notes. I grunt. " I'm fine." He shakes his head like he's disagreeing with me, but doesn't say anything. We sit in silence, watching the sunrise until the others wake up. He gives me a look and joins them. "Hey, Amber, are you ready for the gym battle with Misty?" Yumi asks. I look at them. They're all waiting for an answer. "Ya, but... I'm not doing it for the badge," I see the shock register on their faces. "I'm doing it to see how strong I've gotten."

"But, Amber! You've always wanted the gym badges!" Pixie cries, trying to reason with me. I laugh. "I know, but now I have a new dream. There's no talking me out of it. I've made up my mind." She sighs. "But first, we need to train. All of us were out leveled by TR, some worse then others. Misty has agreed to help us. We'll set up a bracket, and pull names to see who goes against who, alright?" Everyone nods. "Ok, now let's go get Misty." Everyone heads out. Right before we get there, Scarlet stops me. "I... I don't think I should participate. I mean, I wanna get stronger but you're all stronger than me. I'll get slaughtered." I blink. "Scarlet, if you don't to participate, that's fine. How about you and I have our own battle?" She smiles. "Ok, I might as well, but I want to fight you first." The fire returns in her eyes. "And I'm going to win!"

We square off. The fight to kick off the tournament.it was going to go me vs. Misty, Akiko vs. Pixie, Yumi vs. Scarlet, and Woofer would sit this round out. But then, "Ummm hello? Who are you, and what's going on?" We all look. A vulpix. "Who are you?" I ask, sizing her up. "I'm Chiyo. I saw you guys fight TR, that was awesome! Anyways, what're you doing now?" I smile. She's quite the character. We're having a tournament, would you like to join us?"

"Oh yes, definitely!"

"Alright, you'll face off with Woofer. Let me explain the rules. You'll fight your opponent until one of you can't stand. The winner of the fight win move up in the bracket." I nod to the bracket we've written up. "Everyone will be healed after each round. Any questions?" She shakes her head. "Good, me and Scarlet are kicking it off." I look at her. "Let's begin."

She lunges at me, I dive out of the way. She growls. I know her strongest move is scratch. I bounce a shadow ball at her. It bounces around and hits her in the back. She falls but gets back up. She runs at me. I side step, but her claws catch my bad leg. I fell. I got back up, but I was struggling. She attacked again. I can't dodge while balancing on three legs. She hits, but I catch her paw between my teeth. She slashes with her other paw. I can't stand much longer. With a final scratch, I'm down, and can't get back up.

"Amber I am so, so sorry!" She cries. I had to be helped out of the battle arena. I smile. "Don't be sorry, you did awesome! You fight dirty, I like it." She relaxes. "Amber, you're not mad? She's way weaker and she beat you. And you're not mad?" Pixie says, shocked by my answer. I laugh. "Of coarse I'm not mad. She did good." I turn to Scarlet. "And hey, you're up to level 8 now, right? I think you'll do great. Finding your opponent's weakness and exploiting it is a great strategy." The others, who have now joined us, nod. "Amber will you be able to keep going in the tournament?" Misty inquires. "I don't know Misty, but probably not. Sorry, it looks like you win this one." Scarlet looks incredibly guilty. I smile at her. "Hey, win." I say. "Give it your all. Or this would have been for nothing." She nods.

"The first fight between Pixie and Akiko will now begin!" They face each other. Pixie starts with faint attack. Akiko counters it with a powerful fire spin. Pixie rushes in with a quick attack. I sigh. Battles aren't as fun when you're watching from the sidelines. Akiko hits Pixie with a confuse ray. Pixie blinks.She starts running in the opposite direction and runs into a tree. She stumble she looks around. "What's going on??" Woofer asks me, confused by Pixie's actions. "She's confused. She probably thought that tree was Akiko due to confusion. And now she's probably has a major headache." He nods. "That's a little embarrassing." I nod and look back to the fight. Akiko hit Pixie with her own quick attack. Pixie hits the ground. She doesn't get back up in ten seconds."Akiko is the winner." We all cheer. Pixie comes back to her senses. "Wha... what happened??" She askes, unsure. "Hey, bad news. Your out."

"I lost?"

"Ya, sorry, you have to sit with me on losers bench." She laughs. I smile. We turn back to the ring. Scarlet and Yumi are facing off. "Who do you think is going to win? I think it could go either way."

"Hmmmmmm..." Pixie says, looking at them. "they're both pretty strong. Yumi has a level advantage, but Scarlet did take you down." I laugh. The fight starts.
