Chapter Three

July 7, 56 days till September...

Saturday morning and afternoon passed quickly and before I knew it was 8:27.

"Mom! Do you know where my navy and white striped flip flops are?" I called down tearing apart my closet looking for them.

"They're down here in the living room," she called from downstairs.

I groaned looking at the junk that now covered my floor. I pushed it to the side and rushed into the bathroom.

My bag was lying on the counter with my towel inside. I quickly grabbed my mascara and started to put some on when I heard the doorbell ring.

"Can you get that mom?" I hollered down, "I'm almost done!" I finished up quickly then grabbed my bag and ran back into my room, tossing it on the floor temporarily.

I pulled my white shorts on and grabbed a black tank top, throwing it over my bathing suit. I didn't think we'd be going swimming but I'd had it on earlier and didn't feel like changing out of it right now. I figured it was better to leave it on incase we ended up doing anything near the water.

I picked my bag back up and rushed down the stairs.

"I'm sorry," I said smiling apologetically at Hannah, "I'm almost done I just need to grab my flip flops then I'll be ready!"

She smiled, "No problem. It's only a little bit after 8:30 and it's not gonna be dark for about 10 more minutes. We're not gonna start the fire before then."

I threw on my flip flops, then spotting my navy hoodie on the couch I grabbed it and tossed that in my bag too.

"Ready!" I called out, walking back over to her with a smile on my face.

When we got there the fire was already going.

"Hey guys this is Emily!" Hannah called when we got there.

I followed her over to where she was setting down her stuff, and plopped down my bag next to hers. I figured I'd leave my hoodie in there for now; I could always get it later if need be.

She leaned in next to me when I was done, and let me know everyone's names.

"The guy there with the blonde hair is Jason. He's dating Sarah who is sitting next to him. Then there's Lucas, who has the brown hair, next to them. The two girls over there are Julia and Hailey."

She then smiled at a guy with light blue eyes and light brown hair, "That cutie there is Andrew."

He noticed her looking at him and smiled.

She waved and turned to me, "I'm gonna go say hi. You can talk to the girls."

She skipped off making me feel awkward standing there. I glanced at the girls and they smiled at me. I smiled back and slowly walked over.

"I'm Hailey," the girl with hazel eyes and her brown hair pulled into a cute side ponytail said smiling at me, "This is my cousin Julia."

Julia looked a lot like Hailey, except her hair was in a side braid and she had brown eyes.
