"Why do i have to go?" Luke asked his mother, Liz, in a whining tone. " I don't want to spend my time in a hospital assisting freaks."

Liz gave Luke a knowing look. "Lucas, don't you dare say that about those poor people. It's not their fault that they are sick," she explained. "And this will be good for you. It can teach you a thing or two, and it will go on your school record so you can have a better chance of getting into a good college."

"But mum, It's summer. I want to be able to go outside and party with my friends. not be trapped in a small room and helping old people," The blonde whined once again.

"Honey, you have no friends. All you ever did last summer was trap yourself in your room and listen to that emo stuff that you like," Liz laughed. "Besides, they are not all old people. Some are actually your age."

Luke sighed, "But mum--"

"No buts, Lucas" The small woman walked to the door, " I'll be down stairs if you need anything. But start getting ready because we're leaving in 30  minutes," and with that, the small, blonde lady was out of sight.

Luke sighed as he dramatically fell onto his bed.  He didn't want to go. He didn't want to spend his whole summer with those people.School was treating Luke like a bitch, and all Luke wanted to do all summer, was forget about school and tests. And  just chill. But now he would have to be working and assisting people he didn't even know.

He got off of his bed and made his way towards his closet. He didn't really care what he wore. It's not like he would, He's going to be in a room full of old people. Should he really care?

Down stairs was a small lady making eggs on the stove, and three men sitting at the table talking about sports. "Honey, I made eggs and oatmeal, do you want me to serve you some?" Liz asked her child.

"No thanks mum. Not hungry" Luke explained

"Luke, you're going to be working at the hospital all day, you need some fuel," Liz sighed, " I packed you a lunch, but the nurse did say lunch time is at 1:30. Do you think you can go that long without eating?"

Luke huffed, "Yes, of course I can. You don't have to keep babying me. I can pack my own lunch and I can decide when I want to eat or not!"

"Lucas, don't you dare talk like that to your mother," Luke's dad, Andrew, warned. " she's only looking out for you. You do remember the last time you didn't eat and you almost died, don't you?"

"Yes, sir. I remember," Luke looked back at his mum. "Mum, I'm sorry I raised my voice. I know you're only trying to look out for me."

"Oh, Luke it's alright," Liz said as she kissed her son's forehead.

"Well, if you're not going to eat, I guess we should get going. Is that okay with you?" Luke nodded. "Okay, then let's go."

The pair said their goodbye to the family and made their way to the hospital.

"Hello, welcome to Vic's clinic," a blonde lady said, " Do you guys have an appointment?"

"No, actually. This is my son, he's the new assistant here," Liz introduced her son.

"Ah, yes. Your name must be Luke. Well, all you need to do is sign in, and you'll be able to start your first day" The blond said as she handed Luke some papers.
