You stare down at Sal in his hospital bed, tears blurring your vision. How could you have let this happen? You had been arguing, and he said he was going for a drive..

It fight wasn't even worth it. You don't actually care if he sprays for germs often.. You love him. Why him? Why tonight? The doctors said something about comas, brain damage, life support... But none of the words seemed to make any sense as you looked at his lifeless form.

"Ms. (Y/L/N).. I know this is all very traumatic for you.. But if Mr. Vulcano doesn't start responding to our procedures... You may have to make a tough call..." the doctor was saying, but her words were swimming in your ears. You shakily reach and take his limp hand.

She looks at you sadly.

"I'll let you think about it.." she says softly walking out, cracking the door behind her. You break down, falling into a chair. You gulp for air through the body shaking sobs.

"Sal.. P-Please babe.. Fight it.. Come back to me.. Don't go baby.." you sob, but your pleas seem to be falling upon deaf ears. You stay in this position, simply taking in his features.

Though cut up and bruised, he was still so handsome to you. His sea green eyes were closed, but you kept expecting them to fly open and gaze into yours. His lips were in a straight line, making you miss his sweet, intoxicating smile. Somewhere in the back of your mind you wonder if you'll ever see it again, or hear his contagious laugh.

You grasp his hand as if it was your life preserver.

"S-Sal.." he had never seemed so far. And it broke your heart.

Finally the woman reenters, followed by Sals mother, sisters, father, Murr, Q, and Joe. You walk into Murr's ready arms.

"His condition isn't getting any better.. I have two choices for you to choose from.. We can keep him hooked up and he may be here the rest of his life.. Or.. We can let go." she looks at the ground at the last part. Your heart drops like lead.

You weep into Murr. They're all crying around you, Sal's family weeping like you. You just can't, can't, can't...

It hit you like a ton of bricks.

You'll never see his smile again. His beautiful eyes would never light up when looking at you again. You'd never hear that laugh that now rang through your head. How long would it take you to forget it? You'll never feel his arms around you, his breath on you ear, his lips lightly pressed on yours..

"(Y/N)." you became aware of everyone in the room looking at you. You step away from Murr, looking around at the grief stricken faces around you.

"I-" you begin, but your voice cracks. You cover your face with your hands.

Sal.

The name made so many memories, thoughts, emotions surface..

But you knew what was right.

"I don't want him to be a vegetable the rest of his life.. He's not Sal if he's lost to us.. I.. I think we should pull the plug.." the words made you sick.

...

It was time for your goodbyes.

Everyone took their time to say everything they needed. The sorrow on everyone's faces was just too much for you.

You went last.

Your put your hand on his face, caressing his scruffy cheeks. You sniffle. Your tears had subsided.. A steely numbness had replaced it.

"Hey bud.." you start, sniffling loudly. You take his hand. "I guess this is it. I just wanted to let you know... I didn't really care if you sprayed your germ spray everywhere.. I didn't. I was just being stubborn. Honestly.. I love how much of a germaphobe you are, honestly baby.. Please.. If you don't come around.. I have to live without you.. Please.."

Nothing.

You just had to accept the inevitable.

You lower your head, biting your lip as the tears return. He really was gone.

You smile, looking at the face you'd grown to love so much, and kiss his forehead tenderly.

"I love you." you murmur into his forehead, hoping he could hear you, wherever he was.

You give him one last look, trying to memorize his face.

He looks peaceful. He could almost be asleep. You leave the room.

You nod to the doctor. She nods back and entered the room.

"Goodbye Sal Vulcano.." you whisper to yourself.

You close your eyes and cry, knowing the man you had planned on spending the of your life with was now lost to you.

Forever.
