I hung out with Jace today for the first time in weeks. I thought it was about time I told him how I didn't feel anything for him like I used to.
I didn't want to keep an unhealthy relationship going on, I knew now what Rusty meant when she told me he was no good.
We both sat in his truck in silence for a while, watching the car races that were taking place in front of us. I think he knew that something was up, but he didn't care enough to ask.
"Listen, I've been thinking a lot over the last few weeks," I finally spoke up, making him turn to face me for the first time today, "I don't think I want this any more, us. And I think you feel the same way. We aren't like we used to be, we always fight. I think it would be best for the both of us if we just ended it right now." I explained, watching his facial expression which remained the same throughout the entire time I was speaking. He just stared at me.
I waited for him to reply to me, telling me that he felt the same way or even telling me to get out of the truck because that was something Jace would do. But he didn't speak up, he just turned his head and looked out the window like he had been doing before I began to speak.
"Aren't you going to say anything?" I asked after a while of us sitting in more silence - and it wasn't the comfortable silence that people liked.
"Well, you aren't telling me anything I don't already know." Jace snapped, as he glared at me, "I got eyes and ears." He was talking about Luke and I spending a lot of time together, we seemed to be the talk of the town simply because I was involved with Jace, although he never even asked me to be his girlfriend so I never really knew what we actually were to each other.
"Well, I just thought I should tell you myself." I stated, knowing if I was in Jace's position I would want him to come and tell me himself. I knew that Jace never really cared about me, but he would still be angry because I was the one who ended whatever we had, I chose someone else over him and he wasn't happy in the slightest.
Jace started laughing after that, "Yeah. Y'know first you're into race car drivers and now your into dancing gymnasts? You really crack me up."
"Well people change. Luke treats me better than you ever have and better than you ever could." I finally snapped at him for the first time in my life, feeling good for standing up for myself.
"I've seen the way you've been looking at him. You're just waiting for the right moment to wrap those skinny little legs around him." Jace smiled as he put his hand on my thigh.
"Don't touch me!" I shouted, grabbing his hand and taking it away from my leg, I'm so sick of you treating me like dirt."
I opened the door of the truck, jumping out of it although Jace wasn't far behind me, "Hey! Is that what I've been doing? Treating you like one of those girls we screw on the weekends? Cause' I thought that's what you came here to be." He shouted as he followed me.
I continued to walk, trying to get as far away from him as I could. He suddenly grabbed my arm and tugged me back so I was facing him, "You know being a preacher's daughter doesn't give you a free pass for acting like a slut."
