It was a Sunday Morning and just like any other Sunday, everyone was sitting in their usual seat while they listened to what My Father had come up with for this weeks service.
Luke had told me about him and my Father's little chat, but he didn't actually tell me everything that was said. I was curious but I didn't want to push him to tell me any more than what he wanted to.
Something seemed a little different with my Father ever since that night though, he seemed a lot happier and he was always starting normal conversations with me which I was grateful for. Whatever Luke had said to him had obviously worked because he was like a changed man.
Luke had told me about him asking my Father again for the dance and although my Father didn't give him a straight answer, he didn't say no either.
Everyone was in silence as my Dad paused, looking around the room and making eye contact with both me and Luke a few times.
"I am standing before you day with a troubled heart. I've insisted on taking responsibility for your lives, but I'm really just like a first time parent - who makes mistakes and learns as he goes along. And like that parent, I find myself in that moment, I have to decide, Do I hold on or do I trust you to yourselves? Do I let go and hope that you have understood my lessons?" He stares at me with tears threatening to spill from his eyes, "If we don't trust out children, how will they ever become trustworthy? I'm told that the senior class of Beaumont high school has secured the use of a warehouse for a senior dance. Please join me in keeping them in our prayers that our lord will guide them safely in all of their decisions."
Everyone looked at each other with complete shock - He is letting us have a dance! I make eye contact with Luke who is sitting at the other side of the church. He is already looking at me with that huge grin he always seems to have on his face now-a-days and I can't help but return the exact same one.
"Now, let us turn to out hymns - page 472." My Father announced after everyone had quieted down a little, "Just as I am, I long to be."

It was the day of the dance, although we had spent the entire day getting the old barn cleaned up and ready to look like somewhere you would go for a dance.
I was just finished getting ready, as I stood in front of the mirror, making sure that I looked suitable for the occasion. I put a little more lip stick on my lips just as I heard a knock on my door.
"Ariel it's me, mind if I come in?" I heard my Mother ask quietly - I knew that my Mum was almost more excited about the dance than I was, almost. After all, I am her only daughter so this is a first time for her.
"Yeah I'm just finished, come in." I replied as I fixed my off the shoulder dress. I didn't know if I suited it or not but it's not think I had anything else to wear.
My Mother instantly opened the door, "Wow Ariel, you look stunning!" She gushed as she closed the door and came over so she was standing beside me.
