Dovewing lay in the tree and sighed next to Thornclaw. Her sister, Ivypool, had been crushed by a rock slide and died. Dovewing would have been killed, but Ivypool pushed her out of the way, at the cost of her own life. Dovewing looked up into the stars and tried to see a new one, but was disappointed when only Tigerstar's face appeared. "Hello, tributes. We have made a new rule. One cat from each clan can win the Forest Games. May the odds be ever in your favor." Tigerstar purred menacingly.
Thornclaw had heard the message. They stared at each other as if they were enemies for a moment. Then their eyes softened. "I won't fight you. This is madness, he's just turning us against each other. Kill me if you want, but I will leave you in peace." Thornclaw meowed. "I can't, I won't kill you Thornclaw." Dovewing meowed, sheathing her claws, "I would stay with you, but we can't win together and I can't kill you in the end. We should go our own ways and hopefully see each other in Starclan. Goodbye." Dovewing mewed. Thornclaw nodded and headed down the mountain; the opposite way the Dovewing went. He padded away, ears flat and tail dragging, but was happy to have avoided a fight.
Dawnpelt looked angrily at the sky as her grandfather faded away. Starlingwing looked scared, thinking that Dawnpelt would kill him since he stood no chance against a healthy warrior. She swiveled her head towards him. "Don't worry. You are safe with me. I won't fall for Tigerstar's tricks. Let's finish this, together." Dawnpelt growled angrily. Starlingwing nodded and stood up, now able to walk. "Thanks." he meowed weakly. They sat down and shared the squirrel they found in their bag from the feast.
Nightcloud jumped back in surprise as Sunstrike hissed at her after Tigerstar faded. Sunstrike's claws were unsheathed and her teeth were bared. "S-Sunstrike?" Nightcloud mewed nervously. "I've had enough of this, this torture! I'm getting out somehow, dead or alive. The only way to do that is to end the games. Sorry I have to do this." Sunstrike hissed and leaped at Nightcloud. Nightcloud hissed and leaped to the side, getting a few good blows on Sunstrike's head. She hissed and slashed at Nightcloud's neck, missing by a mouse length. Nightcloud bowled Sunstrike over and pinned her down. She saw no fear in the once sweet Windclan cat. All she saw were glazed eyes. She bit down on Sunstrike's neck and heard an explosion in the distance. She is with her mentor now. Nightcloud thought. Sunstrike faded away to join the rest of her ancestors in Starclan. Nightcloud walked away with her head down, knowing that she had just killed her own clanmate.
Icecloud turned her head from the sky to Pebblefoot. His jaw had dropped at what just happened. He glanced at her, knowing they couldn't fight each other. "No he wouldn't do this. Would he?" Icewing meowed. "He did. He is trying to get us to fight." Pebblefoot replied. "Well then we won't. He was able to send us to our doom, but he can't get me to kill." Icewing meowed. "I agree. We will stay a team until one of us dies." Pebblefoot meowed solemnly. They nodded and padded back to the den to sleep through the night.
