Prompt: You are Lauren's 16 year old son, Rhys. She had you at 17 by her ex, Luis Santos. He was a good dad, he raised from day one. Lauren couldn't cope with a child so young. The fame and having a child was too much for her and she left you with Luis in hopes he'd raise you right and do a good job. He did; he thought you right from wrong, he thought you how to be a man and respect women and treat them right.

For those 16 years Lauren has regretted leaving you alone with Luis, not because she was worried for you safety but now she's finally manning up to her mistakes and wants to meet you for the first time in a long time. But how will you react? Will you accept her apology? Or will you leave your own mother hanging?

Rhys P.O.V

"She wants to meet you" my dad says

I bet you're confused. Well my name is Rhys James Jauregui-Santos but I don't use the Jauregui part of my name. I'm 16 years old and I live in Miami. My dad, Luis, thinks it's a good idea for me to meet my 'mother' the one who left me and my dad when I was young, the one who cared more about her fame than her son

"No! She left us for fame and money and now she has that she wants to suddenly meet us? No I won't go!" I scream at him.

"She did what she thought was best. It was hard for her, she had to think of the other members of the group!" he argues

"And what about us? We needed her to! She's my mother and I needed her to! But she didn't come! I used to cry myself to sleep at night hoping she'd walk through that door but it never happened! So tell me that now I'm suddenly supposed allow her back into my life and forget the past 16 years without her?" I yelled at him before storming off to my room

"Why?!?" I whisper to myself

Luis's P.O.V

I knew that asking Rhys to meet Lauren was a bad idea. It's not that he hates her but it's hard for him to allow her back in after so long. She left me to look after him while she lived her dream, travelling the world with 4 other females.

That's why I broke up with her. She left me to deal with Rhys all by myself. She was on the Demi Lovato Neon Lights Tour, she promised that she'd call me to check on Rhys and I but she didn't. The first week I let it go thinking that it was her first big tour and she was just working out things so that they were perfect but it wasn't, the real reason was that she didn't want Rhys in her life. She claimed it was "too hard" for her. I always asked her "what about me?" because it was ok for her to live her dream but I had to give up everything that I had work for in my life? So yeah that's the true reason behind our break up.

For the past 16 years I've heard nothing from Lauren about Rhys. Her family have seen him a few times but after so long I didn't hear from them again. The girls always ask how he is, and I always tell them about him. They've never met him because they never had chance to.

Anyway I had a text message from Lauren this morning saying:

Mother of my boy: I know it's been a while but please let me see my son. I was wrong 16 years ago, I was a child myself, we both were. I couldn't handle the fact that Rhys would grow up with me travelling all of the time, he needed a mother in his life and that wasn't me. Now I understand that I am his mother and he still needs me. And I need him, I've lied to myself for so long I convinced myself that he never needed me and you and him would be better off without me! But please I'm begging you to let me see him. I miss my baby boy
