Angeline's POV:

"Shadow. You have to let me go." I pleaded. He tightened his grip around my waist and groaned. Meanwhile, the puppy was pacing back and forth as if needing to go outside.

"If he shits on the floor you're cleaning it up." I threatened.

He shrugged and I sighed. I've been trying to get him to let me go for the past ten minutes. We fell asleep after the third time. I had a lot of built-up sex needs from over the years and I let them out on poor Shadow. He's so exhausted, it's cute. I heard a soft snore, he fell asleep again. Slowly I slid out of his arms and put a pillow in my place. He groaned and snuggled close to the pillow. The puppy jumped up and down, silently pleading me to hurry up and open the door. I had to give the puppy props, he held it in instead of using it on the floor. I will give him a treat when we come back inside.

Just as I reached the back patio, my phone started ringing. I hurried to it so it wouldn't wake Shadow. I saw that it was Richard and face-palmed. They probably didn't know we decided to stay the night.

"Hello, Mistress." Richard greeted me when I answered the phone.

"Hey Richard, what's up?" I asked sleepily.

"Just checking up on you." He answered.

"Oh, I'm fine. Shadow is a tad bit exhausted after all the sex we had." I said with a yawn.

"Ha-ha very funny," Richard said. I'm sure he was rolling his eyes.

"I'm not kidding Richard," I said truthfully.

"YOU GUYS HAD SEX?!" He screamed.

"Three times," I said with a scowl. If he were here, I would spank the hell out of him.

"Are you fucking serious?" A new voice said.

"Yes Marylynn," I said with another yawn. The puppy ran inside and I made my way to the kitchen. I was in need of some coffee. How can someone live without coffee? It's like oxygen to my lungs. I cannot live without it. If coffee were a person, I would marry them. My sleep schedule is all kinds of fucked up.

"Baby girl I am so proud of you." She said warmly.

"Thank you. Poor Shadow doesn't know what hit him." I admitted.

"You didn't ease him in?" She asked with a small laugh.

"No. I jumped him like a spider monkey." I replied. She burst into laughter and I joined her.

"Leave it to you to take away that boy's virginity like a wild animal." She said.

"Correction: a caged wild animal being let out after years of being locked up," I said as I started the coffee maker.

"That is true. What time is it there?" She asked. I glanced over at the clock.

"It's like 7 pm, but I am wide awake," I said.

"And you're up and making coffee." She stated.

"Are you here?" I said, looking around at the windows.

"No, I just know you that well. You're going to drink a shit ton of coffee, and be up all night." She said with a sigh.

"I do what I want," I stated.

"It's too bad you're a Mistress. If you had a Daddy me and him would be best friends." She said.

"Haha. Very funny." I chuckled.

"Are you ever coming back?" She asked.

"Of course. I can't just uproot my life and move to Canada. I told him we could visit here for the summer. But we decided to stay a couple of days." I told her.

"That's good. Are you alone right now?" She asked.

"Yes, he's asleep upstairs," I answered.

"Good. I hadn't had the chance to talk to you about what I found since he whisked you away." Marylynn started. I grabbed my cup of coffee and walked outside to the swing. Scar followed right behind me.

"The basics, his real name is Anthony Michaels. Thought from talking to him, he prefers Shadow. He seemed sensitive when I called him by his real name so I'd avoid doing that if I were you." She continued.

"That won't be hard. It's what I know him as. So, no priors?" I asked.

"No criminal records. There's numerous, and I mean numerous hospital records for him since he was 13 years old. But that's not the worst of it." She said.

"I know a little about it. He said something about his aunt's boyfriend doing awful things to him. What could be worse than that?" I asked, taking a sip of coffee.

"The reason he had to stay with his aunt was because she was next of kin and he was a minor at the time of the accident." She began.

"What accident?" I asked her.

"His parents were killed in a fire when he was 12 years old." She answered. I paled and stared up at the bedroom window. It felt as though the blood had exited my body and all was left was an empty shell.

"Are you saying..." I started but couldn't finish.

"When the hospital ran his blood, it matched with an open case. It's how I found out who he was. Angeline... your open case is about Shadow's parents." She sighed.
