Chapter 3

I walked upstairs once I came out of shock. Dinner with the Lances? Why? I mean my parents aren't friends with his or anything. I kept thinking why they would be coming over. When suddenly my brother interrupted my thoughts. " Hey Kyle, you have to wear something nice to dinner."

I groaned, I hated to wear nice things. I liked T-shirts and shorts, that's it. I looked through my closet and found my favorite black jeans and a nice black V-neck. Then I grabbed my favorite necklace and tied my hair in a pony. I walked downstairs to help my mom finish cooking.

The doorbell rang. I finished setting the table to go answer it. It was my dad and the Lance family. My dad must have arrived at the same time as the Lances did. " Hello, you can come right in." I said kindly. When they came in everyone went to different parts of the house. My mom and Mrs. Lance went to the kitchen, my dad and Mr. Lance went to the living room, and my brother and Collins little brother, Nate, went up to the game room. Lastly me. I was stuck with Collin.

" So..." I began.

"You have a nice home." He said quickly.

" Thanks. Do you know why your family is here right now?"

"I have no clue. All they said is where we're going, and that's it."

" Okay. Well, dinners ready." I shouted the last part for everyone to hear.

When we were all seated, parents at one end and kids at the other. so I was seating across from Collin. Then when we were all quiet. My dad got up to say something. " As you all know I am the owner of over 300 toy stores. And I bring these two families together to tell you that Mike Lance is now my business partner. So we will see each other even more now." He sat back down then we all began to eat dinner.

After dinner the parents headed to living room and Gabe and Nate went to Gabe's room to play. "Can you show me around?" I heard Collin ask me. " Sure." I agreed.

I showed him around the house then we were at the last room. My room. I opened the door and we walked in. My room is pretty big. One wall had a window seat and bookcases then the other walls were painted blue. I had a queen size bed in one corner and a desk in the other. Besides those things the room was empty.

" You have a lot of books." Collin stated.

"Yep."

" Have you read them all?"

"Almost."

" Do you like me?" He blurted out, blushing.

That had caught me off guard. So I answered. " Um...no. Why you ask?"

Before he could answer his mother called saying it was time for them to go. Everyone said their goodbyes and please remembers. Except for me.

Later that night I went to bed with a lot of questions.

Why did he ask that?

Does he like me?

Do I like him?

What in the devils name?
