Chapter 5
It was Drew Race, only in kindergarten. He was in the back row three people away from me. We had the same kindergarten? I looked at the first grade one same thing. So as second grade. When I got to third grade, no Drew.
Now I remember! Drew was in my third grade class for half the year. Then he disappeared. No one know what happened to him. Why is he back now? Why did he leave before?
I closed the scrapbook when the doorbell rang. Must be Nate. Gabe beaten me to the door. When he opened it there was Nate and Collin. I scowled at him. Why is he here? I must of said that out loud because Collin answered. " I'm here because I am dropping him off."
"How'd you get here?" I asked. I know he did't have a car or a license.
"We got here by running thirteen blocks." He said proud.
I smirked. "Did your brother beat you? Because you are panting louder then he is."
Collin looked defeated. I then said I'll watch them and all that. Then I shut the door on his face. I turned around to see two hungry faces. I groaned. "You guys are hungry aren't you?" They nodded. "Okay. Give me an hour."
I went into the kitchen to find Mac'n'Cheese. This will satisfy them. I was just about to start when the phone rang. I reached to get it and said. "Hello?"
"Hey Kyle!" Emily answered.
"Hey. What's up?"
"Can I come over and sleepover?"
"Yeah sure. When you going to be here?" I asked checking the clock. It was 7:20.
"I'll be there in thirty." After that she hung up.

I finished cooking and said it was time to eat. Those boys darted downstairs and grabbed their Mac'N'Cheese, before I could say anymore. Emily walked in and said. "Wow. They are like bullets." I agreed.
We walked up to my room and started talking about random things. When the boys entered. "Can you put in a movie?" I agreed as long as Emily and I could watch with them. They picked out Star Wars. What's with boys and Star Wars?
We finished watching the movie and the boys went to bed. Emily was the first to break the silence. "What's Collins brothers name again?" I answered with my eyes closed. "Nate." She was about to answer when the phone rang. Who calls at stinking midnight?! I groaned, and got up to go answer the phone.
"Hey sweetheart." My mom's cheerful voice answered.
"You know it's midnight here?" I said, grumpy.
"Sorry. I just wanted to say that your cousin Rick is coming there. When we get back of course."
"Alright. Bye!" I hung up before she could answered.
I slapped my hand to my forehead. I hated Rick, he is a stupid prankster. He always does it no matter what. He is the same age as me and has dirty blonde hair. Don't ask me how he got it. We don't know. Anyway let's put it this way, he is a pest.
~~
The next day Emily left for lacrosse practice. Next I had to drop off Nate. I was happy, it was Saturday. So I could finally relax. When I got back from dropping Nate off, I found my brother looking through moms scrapbook. "Hey what's up?" I asked.
"Why does mom have pictures of this person in here?" He questioned.
"Of who?" I was confused.
"Him." He ordered.
He showed me the book and he was pointing at our older, Thomas. It was time to tell him who he is, and the truth.
The truth it was hard to believe it was time. There was a reason why we kept Thomas a secret. Now I have to tell Gabe. I looked over at my brother, his eyes searching mine for the answers. I took a deep breath and told the truth, the secret, our brother, everything. "That is Thomas. He is our older brother. He is six years older then me and he's quiet. When I turned eight, you were only four, he ran away. He said that he was going to look for the impossible, that was his dream. Four years later I saw him on the streets. I walked up to him and asked if he wanted to come back. He didn't answer. I tapped him on the shoulder and he looked up at me with sad eyes. He grabbed a piece of paper, wrote a couple of sentences down and ran away. That was the last time I saw him. I looked down at the note and it said. 'Kyle, I love you and Gabe and mom and dad. I became deaf and mute when I left you guys. I don't know how. Please remember me.' I walked home that day, Gabe, crying. I told our parents everything. You were in bed, they told me not to tell you. I kept it a secret this long. Thomas is out there and I miss him. That's the truth." I was crying when I finished, Thomas and I could not be separated before he left. Now I don't know where he is.
Gabe whispered "Why did you keep it a secret?" Then he got up and walked upstairs. I felt awful for not telling him sooner. He was right why did I listen to mom and dad? Then not tell him the truth?
I went upstairs crying, took a shower crying, went to bed crying. Then right before I fell asleep. I said. "Come back Thomas, I love you."
