HalloweenHalloween. My favourite holiday of the year. The night the dead walk among us. But I suppose at Hogwarts that's every day for us, especially since Nearly Headless Nick hasn't stopped going on about the fact that his Death-day party is being overshadowed by Dumbledore's Halloween disco.
I assumed the disco would be quite lame but that wouldn't stop me having a good time and trying to shake some life into tonight, pardon the pun.
I had planned to spend all day getting ready and thinking up plans to make tonight really awesome but that all went down the drain when Harry and co. dragged me Sir Nick's party at 2:00. Who has a party that early? The dead I suppose. When we arrived, Nearly Headless Nick had already started his rant on still being unable to join the headless hunt and seemed to be putting a downer on the whole party. Almost every ghost had attended the party but that only seemed to make it more it more depressing. And I quickly realised I would have to listen to the bloody baron shaming me all night for being friends with 'Gryffindor scum'. We decided to stay no longer than an hour so as not to be rude but still we could find nothing to entertain us for the time being.
There was a faint tune playing from an old gramophone but it was barely audible and I had a feeling that even if the guests were alive the party would still be a little sad. I couldn't bare to stay here longer than necessary.
Harry, Ron, Hermione, Fred, George and I all took a seat in the corner, ate a piece of cake to be polite and chatted quietly to ourselves.
"Do you think this party tonight will be any good?" I asked after moments of silence and chewing.
"If it's anything like the yule ball last year then I doubt it." Ron replied.
"That was a good party Ronald. You and Harry made it bad for yourself, and me! If it wasn't for you two everyone would have had a lovely time." Hermione burst out
"What happened last year?" I asked curious.
"It was nothing." Ron mumbled but was quickly cut off by Hermione.
"I'll tell you what happened, I was having a perfectly wonderful evening with Viktor Krum-"
"The quidditch player?" I cut in. Hermione nodded and I smirked, impressed.
"Then Ron had to come and ruin it, saying that he was just using me-"
"Well he was." Ron stated.
"No, he wasn't. We made up after that but Ron still ruined our night. All because his date wouldn't dance with him." Hermione huffed.
"Right, settle down." I ordered. "It's in the past, can't we just forget about it. Don't make me sorry I asked." After some intense staring the couple nodded and made up. "So what are we going to do to make this lame disco fun?" I turned to Fred and George this time for advice.
"Well we all have to dress up we could do something with that." Fred commented. I shrugged and George agreed, nodding.
"I'm sure the two of you will figure something about by tonight but in the mean time I'm getting out of here. I still haven't even got a costume for tonight." I remarked, standing up from the rickety old stool and giving them a wave as I left the room full of ghosts, trying to escape before Nearly Headless Nick caught me.*
As returned it to my dorm I instantly started looking for something I could use but I found nothing. Why didn't my grandfather tell me I would need a costume?
Eventually I decided I would have to improvise.
By the time I had got a shower and washed and dried my hair I realised there was only just over two hours until I had to meet everyone downstairs.
It took my a while but I sat by the mirror for hours covering my face and chest in white body paint before going over it with intricate lines and black spots, turning me into a skeleton. At his point I really didn't have a lot of time to get ready so I quickly through on my dress and heels. I was running late and didn't have time to curl my hair so I left it straight and went down to meet Draco.
He didn't look much different apart from the fact he was wearing a cape and had painted some blood on the sides of his mouth, and seemed to be wearing a set of plastic fangs. He certainly hadn't gone all out.
"Nice vampire, Draco, didn't make much of an effort, did you?"
"Either did you by the looks of it."
"Excuse me? Do you know how long this took me." I scorned, but burst out laughing after he flashed off his pathetic fangs.
"Well that should explain why you're so late. Come on we better get going." He took my arm and led me down to the great hall where the party was already in full swing.
