I wake up to banging on my door. I try to focus in the pitch blackness but I can't see anything. "Auntie?". The door creaks open and a small ray of light from the hallway shines into my room. I follow the light and make my way out into the hallway. I speak, "Who was banging on my door?" But no one replied. I continue walking our into the living room where I see Clayton on the couch, watching Family Guy. "Clayton, what time is it?!". He jumps at the sound of my voice and looks at his phone before answering, "Its 2:44."

"2:44? Why did you guys let me sleep that long?! Where's Auntie.". He points to the other room and continues to watch his show. I make my way into the kitchen and see my auntie grabbing a glass and filling it with tab water. "Why are you up so late, Auntie.. I just woke up, no one woke me up."

"Oh hi hun." She smiles and takes a drink of her water before speaking again, "I told your brother he could sleep on the couch because I guess he was having nightmares and he kept hearing things in his room." She turns off the light in the kitchen and begins to make her way to her room, "I just woke up to get some water and check on him."

"Well, someone was knocking on my door, way too loudly.". She looks at me confused, "How long ago?"

"Like 4 minutes ago.". She laughs and puts her hand on my shoulder, "You're just like your mother." And with that, she turns around and goes into her bedroom. What's that supposed to mean? Like my mother? I scoff and walk back into my room. I slip under the covers. Honestly, I'm still scared of the dark. Not the dark in general, just what's in the dark is what freaks me out. I check my phone and I have 3 new messages. I click on the first one from an unknown number :

Sorry I was so loud, I meant to knock lightly.

I look up at my door and back at my phone. I feel goosebumps all down my arms. Who's number is this? I try to put it in the back of my mind and I look at the other messages. Zack!

I need you..

Come now!!

I rub my eyes to adjust to the light and realize I've been rubbing all my mascara. "Fuck." I whisper. I slip my phone in my pocket and open my back door, leading to my small balcony. I hop over and climb down the gmtre right next to it. I run over to Zack's, knowing he needs me. I get to his door and I send him a text, letting him know that I am outside. I hear a quiet click and with that, the door opens and Zack pulls me inside. "I-I need your help, Bec.."

"Yeah, yeah what is it? What's wrong?" I try to focus in the pitch black and make my way to a light switch. I turn it on and see Zack crying. "Zack?! What's going on??!"

"My m-mother.." He points in the living room and I stare at him then look down the hallway. "I.. Uh, I'll be right back.." I feel my heart race faster as I walk down the hallway to their living room. I turn on the light and see his mother laying on the ground, lifeless. I instantly run to her and check her pulse. Her heart is still beating.. "What the fuck happened?!". Zack enters the living room and says, "She fainted.. We were fighting and out of no where.. She fainted..?". I know she has diabetes so I am assuming that her blood pressure was low. I shake her lightly and she wakes up. "Are you okay?" I speak softly. "Y-yes hun.. Why are you here?" She sits up and looks at Zack wiping sway his tears. "Mom.. I'm glad you're okay.." Another tear falls down his cheek as he helps his mom up. I go to the kitchen and make her a sandwich, which low blood pressure like that, you need food in your system. I finish and bring it out to her. "Its not much but you should probably eat something.."

"I agree. I just had no time to eat today.." She takes the sandwich and takes a bite. "Thank you. What time is it?". She seems calm, I don't think she remembers the fight with Zack.. "Like 3 am." Zack says. "I should go back home.."

"Not this late hun. Take the couch. I'll call your aunt tomorrow before I leave for work and let her know what happened. Get some rest." She lays out a blanket and pillow for me. "I'm going to my bed. Goodnight everyone.". It seems like that wasn't even important to them. It usually never is, something is always happening with their family. I say goodnight to Zack and lay on the couch. I close my eyes and in seconds, I'm dreaming about my mother.
