Chapter 6: Awake

—Laurance's P.O.V.—————–——
I wake up to nothing but white. I look over to my right and see a familiar face. I realized that it was Aphmau holding my hand. I tighten my grip. She sees that I'm awake. "Laurance" she said softly. I wave my hand hi. She starts to tear up. "Oh come on Aph, don't cry" I said to myself. I wanted to say something but, I was in so much pain that I couldn't.

"W-What happened? Why am I here" I asked softly. Aphmau tells me everything she saw and, starts to cry. " I'm so sorry Laurance" she cried while looking down in shame. "Don't beat yourself up over this. It's not your fault" I whispered. "Don't you get it Laurance, you could have died" she snapped. "Yeah but I didn't" I said snapping back at her. "I-I'm sorry. I didn't mean to" she said. "Shh it's ok. I'm sorry I snapped back at you" I said. "I know you didn't mean to. You're just under a lot of stress but, I'm here for you" she smiled trying to comfort me. "I know you are" I smiled. "Not just me though! Everyone's here for you" Aphmau said. "Really" I said to her with a surprised look on my face. "Of course! Why wouldn't they" she said. "Wow, thanks. Are they all still here" I asked. "We stayed here all night waiting for you to wake up. Nicole was the one here when you first woke up" she said not looking to happy about the last part. "In fact she...s-saved you" she said. Aphmau tried to hide the jealousy but, I could see it right through her. "What do you mean she saved me" I asked. "If it weren't for her, you could've been 6 feet under" she said all concerned. "Wow...Now that I think about it, I'm really lucky to be here" I thought. It goes silent for a few minutes. "Do you want me to bring in the others" Aphmau asked. "I don't see why not" I said. She leaves to go get the others. Once they come back, everyone looks at me in silence. "Hey..." I said. "Laurance you're ok" Garroth said. Everyone started talking at the same time. I couldn't hear anything until someone yelled "Hey! Everyone be quieter! He has been through enough. One person at a time". It must have been a nurse. Everyone does what the nurse said. Now it's just Aphmau in the room. It looked like she wanted to say something but, I start to talk. "Wait...Can I talk to Nicole" I said. "Y-Yeah. I'll go get her" she said as she tries not to get upset or jealous. As I'm waiting, I hear someone come in. I glance over and see Nicole. "Hey. I just wanted to say thanks" I said. "Oh it was nothing" she said looking down. "Hey are you ok" I asked looking concerned.
—Nicole's P.O.V.————————
Y-Yeah. I'm fine! I'm glad you are too" I said looking panicked. "I'm only fine because you" Laurance said. I start to blush. "I can see right through you Nicole. What's going on? You can trust me" he said. "I would love to tell you what happened but, I don't want to ruin anything" I said to myself. "It's nothing...Can I ask you something" I said. "Yeah sure. Why not" Laurance said so calmly considering his situation. "What was the first thing you remember after waking up" I asked. "Well the only thing I remember is waking up next to Aphmau in my arms. I don't know if I was awake before that though but, Aphmau said something about you being there when I first woke up. Why do you want to know" Laurance said. "I was just wondering" I said. "I should get going" I said walking to the door. "Wait...I just wanted to say thanks again" he said wincing in pain. "No problem. Please get some rest Laurance" I said. "Ok, will do..." he said in pain. I look back then shut the door.
I go back out to the waiting room. "Hey Nicole. Can I talk to you for a second" Aphmau said walking up to me. "Yeah sure" I said following her out to the hall. "What's up Aph" I said. "Can I ask you something" Aphmau asked. "What is it" I said. "Will you be honest with me" she asked. "Yes, just tell me already" I said. "Do you like Laurance" Aphmau asked.
