I kept walking for a few minutes, doing nothing but following the source of the music. With every step I took, it seemed softer and softer, yet pushing me to go forward. The sun seemed to be twice as eager to set as any other day, and it was soon twilight.
Suddenly, everything was quiet, and I noticed for the first time there was not even the sound of crickets, or birds chirping, or anything else, for that matter.
Exactly like it had gone quiet before the attack that had killed Jess.
But I did not feel any fear. In fact, I felt like I had won the lottery, because I had finally figured out where Felore’s clue was. Here, in the Forest, like it had said all along, only I was too blind to see it.
I will say that I absolutely loved the forest, unlike the rest of my race who would settle anywhere with a vision of the moon. I loved the moon, but I loved the forest, too. I was able to express my secrets there in a way I never could anywhere else. And I loved the pixies’ company.
That is what Felore’s note had said.
The entry was somewhere in the forest, and I was not going to leave until I obtained it.
"Peaseblossom?" I called. Maybe the little pixie would hear me and come looking for me. Johnny and I, after all, were the only humans that knew her name.
Sure enough, a small figure suddenly appeared out of thin air.
But it was not Peaseblossom.
This pixie was a male, and had long silver hair – but this silver hair, unlike Peaseblossom’s, was silver from age – and wore long brown robes.
"What are you doing here, child?" he asked roughly, annoyed, "Did Daugon not tell you to keep away from this place?"
"Daugon?" I said, confused.
"Darthorion, the headmaster, child!"
"Oh," I said, "Well, yes, he did-"
"Then why can’t the lot of you keep away?!"
"Well, I – hang on," Liz said, "The lot of us?"
"You’re the fourth child that has come here!" the pixie said, outraged, "The ghost of a child came here, too. I had no choice but to kill them, and exorcise the ghost. The secrets of this forest are to be kept secret-"
"Wait, wait, wait just a minute," I nearly shouted, "You exorcised Jess?! You killed three kids?!"
That meant that Jess had only killed one student – and that Nicholas was innocent. It did not make sense. Both of them had lied to me?
"Well, I’m afraid I had no choice," the pixie said, unashamed, "If they – and you – wouldn’t obey the rules, then you must be punished."
"You bloody ass!" I shouted, "All this time I’ve blamed my friends for your work!"
"I will not tolerate such language!" he shouted. Suddenly there was movement in the forest, and a tiger emerged.
I would not really say it was a tiger. It had to be seven foot high, and instead of orange, it was snow white with black stripes, covered with bulging muscles and a massive mouth with bared two inch long teeth, and atop it sat a night elf. She had a light shade of purple skin, darker purple tattoos over her eyes, blue hair glowing in the moonlight (I could not believe how soon the sun had set), glowing white eyes and blood red lips. Her lips were parted ever so slightly, to reveal sharp and slightly longer canines than normal, and a new moon charm hung from her forehead. Her arms and most of her fingers were covered in jewels and chains.
