Dear Diary,

I spent the whole night in the library. Well, technically, not in the library – in Felore’s office. I found it, but it took me quite a while to find it. The book that made the door open was protected by same barrier that protects her diary entries. I think that’s a good thing, ‘cause there were two entries inside.

It’s amazing – all the walls are covered with books, and there’s a massive chandelier, and atop a small stage deal (only two steps) was a desk with all kinds of notes she made on her experiments. Turns out she made five of her own spells in her lifetime.

Bending someone’s will

Reading a certain person’s mind.

Seeing a rough vision of the future.

Changing the mood in a room (which is the easiest – just a simple incantation)

Creating forcefields around a certain person (or persons – up to three people) that protects them from any kind of mental attack.

I haven’t read the entries yet – I’m afraid of what I’ll find, and I want to talk to Johnny first, and then to Nicholas. I can’t understand why he didn’t defend himself when I accused him of exorcising Jess. I suppose I should apologize to Mekisha too, for having blown her off the last few months. And Professor Gildeneye wanted to see me, but he can wait till I’m in his class.

And I have to continue studying for the exams. They’re only three days away. I finished summarising weeks ago, and every night read through all my notes. I haven't really started studying yet.

Bleh.

And there’s something else bothering me, too. It’s a good kind of bothering – scary but awesome. My canine teeth have become exactly like Theta’s. They’ve grown sharper and slightly longer than the rest of my teeth, and it’s hard to hide them because I keep ripping the edges of my lips open.

Damn …

I stuffed the journal under the floorboard, took a shower, dressed, and decided to see Johnny and Mekisha first. They will be easy to find.

Sure enough, I found both of them in the Main Hall, eating breakfast. Johnny had a large book propped up in front of him.

"Hey, guys," I said casually, taking some cereal and orange juice.

"What’s up?" Mekisha said dryly.

"Alright," I said, swallowing a big bite, "I honestly cannot believe I am apologizing to you, but here it is – I am terribly sorry for blowing the two of you off. I just … had a lot on my mind."

"Sure," Mekisha said. I was sure there was a new edge to her voice – like victory, having me apologize to her.

"Does that mean I’m forgiven?" I asked.

"You never needed forgiveness; we were never angry," Johnny said, not looking up, "Just annoyed."

"Hey, you – how come you never told me?" I asked Johnny, taking a big bite of my cereal.

"Told you what?" he asked, a little too quickly.

"Told her what, Johnny?" Mekisha asked. She did not know, either.

"I don’t know what you’re talking about," he said.

"Jonathan Masbath Horn," I said warningly, "I told you about Jess, you’re going to tell me – us – about your secret."
