"Here in the darkness, I know myself."

Her day started out just fine. She had got to jam in the morning to some throwback 80s jams. (Who wouldn't love that?) And the sun just seemed to beam down just at her. She felt like nothing could go wrong.Until lunch time.
It was a dark and stormy hallway as she rushed towards the cafeteria. She was starving! She could've consumed three plates of enchiladas!
She had taken her seat and was about to crack into her lunch when he appeared. The curly haired devil waltzing towards her.
He sat at her table. He was smirking at her and it made her very suspicious.
"Why are you so obsessed with me? Can't you leave me alone for one second?"
He rolled his eyes. "Don't flatter yourself."
She continued eating her food with narrowed eyes. The smirk was still on his face and she didn't like that look at all. It was enough to throw her off.
They continued to eat in silence. He didn't say a word. He merely sat there smirking at her and munched his chips away.
For the rest of the school day, she wondered what his problem was. He looked at her as if he knew something she didn't. Or he did something.
She didn't find out until she was leaving school. She was packing her things by her locker when she realized her phone was missing.
She frantically searched her pockets and bag. Nothing. Her phone was gone. Her music was gone.
It clicked immediately.
"Nick." She said through clinched teeth.
She stomped out towards the front doors of the school. The sun pierced her eyes when she stepped out into its fiery warmth.
She turned her head sharply in all directions looking for the thief. Once she found that mop of curls, she would strangle him.
She looked out towards the parking lot and there chatting with her sister was the devil himself. He casually leaned against Donnie's truck, laughing at something her sister said.
Donnie had never been the athletic type, but in this instance she sprinted across the parking lot at the speed of light. She couldn't wait to throttle the dastardly rotting piece of cabbage. She hoped her eyes would melt his face with their fierceness.
Nick looked towards the force approaching him and he couldn't keep the smirk off his face. Oh, he was going to pay!
"Oh Donnie, glad you're finally here." Nick said with a sugary sweet smile on his face.
"Give me my phone." Donnie said through clenched teeth.
"Your phone? Whatever are you talking about?" Nick put a had up to his mouth in mock shock. The gesture alone made the anger boil within in her. She felt like a dormant volcano that was about to erupt and destroy everything in its wake.
"I don't what your problem is, Curly, but taking someone's phone is way out of line." Donnie said indignantly.
"So is taking someone's football." Nick shot back.
Donnie stomped her foot as her sister watched on in amusement. The traitor! She was laughing at her own flesh and blood. Donnie huffed, thinking of some ways to murder Nick.
"Okay okay, let's compromise here. I'll give you your precious ball back and you give me my phone."
Nick thought about it for a while, probably just to torture her a bit. Finally, he smirked at her and extended his hand.
"Alright deal. Give me my ball."
"It's at my house." Donnie said, looking at his hand in disgust.
He withdrew his hand and scowled at her. She would've laughed at his dumb expression but she held it in.
"You will not get your phone back until you've returned my ball." Nick said, threatening her.
"Okay okay, I'll meet you back here in an hour with your ball. And you can return me my phone as well. Deal?"
He shook his head. "Deal."
............
He was sitting against the hood of his car. The sun was still brightly blazing in the sky as he waited for her. He couldn't wait to see her face when she realized what he did. Oh, the utter satisfaction that was just waiting around the corner.Music could be heard blaring through the parking lot. He looked up and sure enough a red truck was screeching towards him. He could hear drums and some piano. He wondered for a moment what she listened to.
The truck came to a halt. A car door was opened swiftly and he could hear a part of the song for just a moment. Something about lithium? Whatever, he didn't really care.
She slammed the car door shut and looked furiously towards him. The little wench had his football in her hands. It was about time that he got it back.
He stalked towards her with hopefully the most arrogant face he could muster. She was frowning and it only fueled him more. He didn't stop his swagger until he was right in front of her. He held his hands out.
"You're real funny, Nickie. My phone in my hand first." She said, sticking a sugary sweet smile on her face.
Nick huffed, ruffling his curls a bit. This girl had some nerve messing with him!
He dug through his front jean pocket and yanked the device out. It shimmered in the sunlight like a precious diamond. It might as well have been one because Donnie's eyes were glued to it. He could feel a wave of wanting to hold the phone. Good grief, he almost expected her to pop a squat and start saying, "My precious."
She snatched it from him before he could change his mind. She shoved the phone into her own pocket. They had a stare down for just a few moments. He could see gears turning in the little devil's head.
"What are you waiting-"
Before he could finish his sentence, she took off. She was sprinting towards the school. She was getting away from him. Oh hell no!
"Donnie! Donnie, get back here right now!" He shouted across the parking lot. His throat stung a bit from the sudden yelling. He had never imagined himself to be sprinting for so long, but here he was.
The little wench was running towards the football fields. Her legs much like a gazelle galloped across the concrete parking lot. It almost looked like she levitated. She was moving much quicker than he was.
He kept trucking, pushing himself to his physical limit. He knew that when he stopped, he would probably collapse and die. But he would catch up to her. He only needed a golden opportunity. And it came in the form of a rock.
The poor gazelle tripped over a rock somewhere in the middle of the football field. He slowed down as he looked down at his prey. He grinned wickedly, ready to get her back.
"Nice try, Don. Looks like you're trapped." Nick said.
She looked at him with wide eyes. The football was still clutched in her arms. He squatted to her level and snatched it out of her hands. A victorious feeling over flooded him.
"Well, it's been nice. I should get going." He said, stalking off. He could feel her eyes burning holes in his back as he kept walking. But he didn't care, it made feel even more accomplished. He finally had his ball back and that's what mattered.

The Great Musical Wizard
Lãng mạnDonnie is about everything music. She might as well have lyrics tattooed on her ribs. It's the very core of her being. Nick likes sports and everything manly. He lives and breathes the outdoors. The woods, the sweat, and the overall manliness of it...
