"Despite what you will find in me, the failures of my past still swell beneath."

She had never been the attention of the soulless vultures that stalked the halls. But today, something was off. The beady black eyes followed her around every corner. And to be honest, she was freaked out. She didn't know what they knew or what rumor was started, but she wished she could find out.And she did. As she sat at lunch, listening to her music per usual. An unexpected guest approached her abandoned table. The hunk of a guy that she had a crush on. As Demon Hunter still played in her ears, she gaped at the sight in front of her.
Derrick Gables was standing at her table. His golden hair shining in the sunlight. His brown eyes sparkling as they looked upon her face. She could've stared at this hunk of beauty for hours. Though, this is generally frowned upon in society.
Donnie hastily took a headphone out of her ear. "Uh hey Derrick. What's up?"
Derrick smiled sheepishly at her. His cheeks reddening. Was he...blushing at her?? She tried to hold back the scream that was climbing up her throat.
"Uh hey... Is it Don? Yeah, it's Don. Look, you're cool and everything," He said, clearing his throat, "But you know I'm already talking to somebody. But you seem like a nice girl."
She imagined her jaw was touching the floor then. She could not believe what she was hearing. She hadn't even spoken to the guy! How could he know that she liked him?
He nervously scratched the back of his head. "So, that's all I had to say. So, I guess I'll go. No hard feelings okay?"
And with that, he walked away. She still hadn't uttered a word. She couldn't believe what had just happened. Did it actually happen? Was she dreaming?
She pinched herself and yelped. No, se was awake. This was real.
What did he mean? She hadn't even uttered a word to him! They only spoke occasionally!
Her eyes followed him. He went and sat down by his friends, who were all looking at her and laughing. Great, she's going to be the laughing stock for goodness knows how long.
She sank farther into her seat, feeling the rejection sink in.
And just when she thought the day couldn't get any worse.
"How was your chat with Derrick?" The irritating moppy haired devil had approached her table with the smirk she had come to despise.
"None of your business. Leave my presence." She grumbled.
He only smiled wider and sat down across from her. She could feel the waves of smugness roll from him. It made her want to hop the table and choke him. But she refrained.
"He seemed a little embarrassed. Does someone have a crush?"
His voice was like a cheese grater against her ears. She could practically feel like rough, sharp edges against her poor hearing holes.
"Don't you have something better to do?" She asked, already exasperated with his presence.
His cheeky, daring smile almost made his ears pop off his face. The smile was so huge it took up his entire face. It reminded her of Heath Ledger's portrayal of the Joker.
"Then come and talk to my best friend? Absolutely not!"
She groaned, shoving her earphones back into her ears. While she bobbed her head to the music, she realized he was smiling hysterically about Derrick talking to her. She ripped one headphone out again and narrowed her eyes towards him.
"Why are you laughing about Derrick coming over here?" She asked.
The boy looked like he was ready to hit the floor, trying to hold back his laughter. His top teeth were clamped down on his bottom lip and his eyes sparkled with mischief.
"Oh darling," he said with a fake British accent, "when someone has possession of your things, do you know check them afterwards?"
He did have her phone yesterday. Oh goodness, what did he do? He didn't post anything on any of her social media accounts...what could he have..
She whipped her phone out and frantically typed her password. She clicked on the little green messaging app. And right near the top was Derrick's name. She clicked on it and there was a decent message displaying all of her feelings.
Okay, she knew he would seek revenge but did it have to be this? Did he have to stoop to this? Did he really have to?
She wanted to yell and scream, but she picked up her things and quickly left the noisy cafeteria. She left the once cheeky boy behind. She didn't want to humiliate herself anymore especially with her eyes filling with tears.

RomanceDonnie is about everything music. She might as well have lyrics tattooed on her ribs. It's the very core of her being. Nick likes sports and everything manly. He lives and breathes the outdoors. The woods, the sweat, and the overall manliness of it...
