She Vanished

"Do ye remember the fight?" I say, the pain in my arm wearing out. "What fight?" "Y'know... with Signe... she-" "Umm, who the heck is Sig... Singee... Sighee... what?" Mark asks, completely unsure of what I was asking him.

"Y-Ye had a bunch o' scratches on yer arms and cheeks... r-right? Y-Ye had 'em... I-I'm not crazy... I s-swear they were th-there... Mark.... I didn't make up a g-girl that was m-madly in love with me j-just 'cause I'm lonely.... right?" I stutter. I must sound like a nut. He'd never love a crazy person.

Mark nods worriedly, attempting to process what he had just heard. "Okay..." He speaks slowly as I anxiously stare up at him. "So..." He continues. "You sorta maybe mighta been hallucinating... Not that that's a problem! Just... um.... maybe a thing we have to fix..."

"So it's a problem." I say, on the verge of tears. "Not a bad one Seán... and if it gets worse, just know that I'm here for you." And with that he pulls me in for a hug. I place my head on his torso and cry. I wail and sob for hours, him comforting me with his soft touch.

"I'm a fooking problem, Mark..." "You are not  a problem, Jack, you are a person." He would say. 

Ma walks in to see me wailing in Mark's arms, and him kissing my forehead oh-so-gently. She sits on the hospital bed beside us. "What's wrong?" She sweetly questions. Mark leans toward my ear and softly whispers, "Would you like me to tell her?" "Yes..." I immediately reply.

Mark carefully turns toward Ma whilst still cradling me in his arms. "So, um... how do I put this... ah...um... Jack was um... hallucinating about a girl named.... um.. S-Sig... um... something like that... and he th-thinks he's crazy now..." "Oh... I see. This relates to the... bullying, huh?" Ma nervously asks. "I think it does, Ma'am."

"Ye don't haff ta call me Ma'am if ye don't want to, Mark." Ma says.

And then I drift away from reality. I must have cried myself to sleep.
