I inhaled and exhaled repeatedly. I was checking my phone every second waiting impatiently for it to give me a signal; a call, a text, an email. I was waiting for the results of my exams and my professor said she'd let me know as soon as possible. I needed to know how I did and let my family know as well since they were kind of far away from me.
"Stop being so stressed out, baby. You're stressing me out, too." Christian whined, wrapping his arms around my waist and resting his head on my shoulder.
I sighed again. "But you now I can't. I can't help my freaking anxiety." I whined back, a highly complaining voice.
"Okay, so, here's what I have." He span me around and held my hands in his. "If you get good news now, that means you'll be free for the rest of the week, right?"
I nodded, listening carefully to him.
"I was thinking of going on a trip together! It'll help you relax even if it's temporary." Christian smiled, waiting for my response.
"Yeah, um, what kind of trip?" I raised one of my eyebrows as Christian let my hands go.
"An adventurous one." He joked. "A casual road trip, you know, and maybe go for ski or paintball or camping, anything you like." He smiled again.
"Oh my god! Yes! Let's do it!" I jumped up and down happily when I heard all his suggestions and pulled him in a tight hug.
"Wow, great, uh, I didn't expect you to like it that much though!" Christian laughed a bit, pulling back from the hug.
"Of course I would! Like, ski? Paintball? This is awesome!!!" I winked before giggling.
Christian looked surprised at my words. "Not what every girl would want but I'm glad you liked the idea."
I rolled my eyes laughing. "But I am not 'every girl', Christian."
"True. That's what I like about you." Christian cupped my face in his hands and kissed my nose. "Cutie." He said under his breath and I quietly giggled.
For a long moment, I had totally forgotten everything and why I was even stressed out but my phone beeping dragged me back to reality. I unlocked it and saw an email from my professor.
"Oh my god! Christian!" I yelled, losing my temper. I opened up the email.
"What, (Y/N)!?" Christian yelled as well making me want to laugh but I was so serious and nervous I couldn't even form a smile.
"It's my professor! With my results!" I yelled again and Christian held my shoulders tightly. "Jeez, (Y/N), calm down. It's gonna be fine."
I opened the email and read closely, my hands shaking. Thankfully, it was good news. I had done very well and I made it successfully to the next semester.
"I made it!!!" I jumped up and down again and hugged Christian who hugged me back laughing.
"Congrats babe!!! I'm so happy for you." He smiled genuinely at me when I pulled back. "That means.."
"..ROAD TRIP!!!" We yelled together excitedly and ended up laughing.
"I literally can't wait!" I exclaimed as I threw myself on the couch.
"Same to be honest!" Christian nodded before sitting next to me.
Ding-dong!!!
The loud door bell made us both roll our eyes. "I'll get it." I got up, leaving Christian sit on the couch while he mouthed a 'thanks'.
"Uh-oh. Hey Justin. Come in." I pressed a smile after I opened the door in the view of Justin. He smiled at me shyly and walked in, headed to Christian.
"What's up, bro?" They greeted each other as I closed the door and got there too.
"Hey, (Y/N), how are you?" Justin pulled me in a brief hug that felt so awkward to me since the last time we were together.
"Fine, thanks." I nodded, smiling softly.
"Great." Justin nodded and turned his body towards Christian to chat with him.
I was standing there for a minute and it was the worst minute with these two ever. I was feeling so awkward and did not know how to fix that. How was Christian even talking to Justin as if nothing happened? As if he hadn't insulted us? But guys never really have that kind of misunderstandings between them. I sighed before opening my mouth to talk. "I'll be upstairs if you need me." And left immediately.
I would rather sit alone in the bedroom and play in my phone or do literally anything else other than sit in that awkwardness. Actually, I am the one who makes everything awkward so the solution was to never hang out with those two together, in the same room.
"Hey, is everything alright?" I had my headphones on when Justin walked into my room.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "I don't know, you tell me."
"What do you mean?" His soft voice echoed in my head.
"One time you say you're okay with me dating Christian and then you get all mad about it." I rolled my eyes, trying not to show that I care much about it.
"Look, I can't even explain that. You're right, first I'm up then I'm down...But I always do that and you know that." Justin shrugged softly.
"Fine, whatever. You should probably go back downstairs now." I shook my hand ignorantly at him.
He walked in and closed the door. "I shouldn't. Christian went off to bring food for lunch. He told me about your exams. You did very well."
"Yeah, I did." I nodded, taking my headphones off and placing them on the bedside table with my phone.
"Congrats." Justin came and sat down next to me. "(Y/N)..We don't really talk lately, have you noticed?"
I chuckled. "And whose fault is it?"
"Do you want my honest opinion?" Justin raised a brow, his eyes locked on mine.
I knew who he was going to blame so I just shook my head as a 'no'.
We just sat in silence for some minutes, the only thing I could hear was our breaths and one or two sighs Justin let out.
"Guys, I'm home!!!" I heard Christian's voice coming from downstairs and without a second thought, I ran to the door.
"There you go again. See?" Justin followed me mumbling.
I stopped for a moment. "What?"
"You run to him. Always."
I continued walking towards the staircase. "Of course I do. He's my boyfriend."
Justin rolled his eyes, catching up with me and walking downstairs next to me. "Right."
I didn't respond and my eyes turned toward the living room where Christian was standing, gazing at us. "Is everything alright?" He asked, eyeing me and Justin.
"Yeah."
"No."
Justin and I replied simultaneously with the only difference being our responses. I went with yes and he said 'no'.
Christian narrowed his eyes, questioning what was up with us, his dark eyes looking for a response in mine and Justin's eyes.
"Let's just have lunch, okay?" Justin suggested, attempting to break the ice between us all.
Christian grimaced. "I'm not hungry now." He stated coldly.
My whole mood changed after that. I hated it this and whenever Christian was down, I couldn't help but feel sad as well. Justin was my best friend but that thing he did when he was getting all jealous about me and other guys annoyed me very much because it had made me break up with other people in the past. I just couldn't explain it and I couldn't figure out why was he acting like that, why was he becoming so possessive when it came to me? I was always a friend.
"Okay then. Wanna do something else?" Justin sat on the couch while Christian and I were glancing at each other.
Christian set the food on the table and his car keys next to it. He took off his jacket and sat across Justin on the other side of the room. "Hm, how about talk?"
