Chapter 6

We walk up to the house full of mud. I take deep breath and try to forget what happened. Derrick says questioning,"Where are we going?" I say joyfully,"To go get the camera I want to take A picture of us all muddy." I show him a smile before I take off my muddy shoes to go inside. He pushes me up against the front door before I could open it. Grabs my chin and turns my face so he can see the forming bruise. I look away from him and turn around to go get the camera. He turns me back around and pins me against the door. He looks me in the eye and says,"Don't do that. Don't pretend he didn't hurt

you." "I'm fine." I say with a fake smile. "No your not. Is he always abusive like that?" "No!! Why would you say that?" I say angry. "Katelyn stop. Tell me your okay. Tell me he doesn't hurt you." He says kindly moving a piece of hair away from the bruises. " He doesn't all the time just when he gets high or drunk. But he is always sorry after." I say fast but gently. "Boyfriends aren't suppose to hurt their girlfriends. I never hurt you." He says sternly "Really you don't count a broken heart hurting someone." I say raising my eyebrows. "Well that's different." He says

quietly . "No its not." I say stomping off to find the camera.

I walk back to the front door and walk into Cynthia. "Oh sorry.." I say looking up. "Oh Hey how are you." I say with a smile. "Good good haven't seen you for a while." She says smiling. She looks my body over and says,"Derrick took you mudding again, huh?" She says smiling. "And might I ask what happens to your cheek sweetheart?" She says giving me a worried look. "Oh a branch hit me when I was driving to fast." I say with a awkward smile. "Huh, A branch." she says suspiciously "Well from the looks of where the muds at. You had a helmet

on." She says looking at me sternly. "Why don't you tell me what really happened. Derrick didn't hit you did he?" She says flustered. "Oh no no,"I say scared she might of got the wrong impression. "Well did he beat up who ever hurt his lover." She says. "No me and Derrick aren't together anymore." I say obliviously "Oh I know. But you do still love him and he still loves you. And between you and me the day you guys broke up Derrick cried and moped around for 2 weeks. He also brought a tone of girls home to..." I put my hand up and say,"I'd rather not here any part of my ex's sex

life." She pulls my hand down and says,"That's the point he brought them all home to have sex with them but every time he sent them home. Derrick Chevron has never turned a pretty girl down before." She winks at me and walks away.

I stand there shocked when she turns back around and says,"Who ever did that too your eye is gonna get what he deserves." I fake a smile and walk out the front door to go take the pictures.

I open the front door and look down at the camera to turn it. I look up to keep walking. When I see a red eyed Tyler sitting on the steps. I walk up next to him. And he jump up when he sees me. He looks my face over and starts crying again. He says,"Katelyn I'm so sorry I over reacted and should have never hurt you." He gets down on his one nee and pulls a box out of his pocket and open it. Its a small diamond on a gold band. He says with tears in his eyes,"I know its not big but it was my mom's engagement ring. That she gave me before she left she said,"When you find a girl you love and want to hold on to give this to her and she will love you forever." I was going to wait till we got back and made love but I thought now it would make a good sorry. I promise that I will never hit you again and I will always treat you right and I will never ever leave you alone." I grab his hand and lift him up. I smile and says,"Its beautiful, thank you" I say smiling and pulling him into a kiss. His kiss is so soft and I thought what would i do with out his kiss. I pull away and rap my arms around his neck pulling him into a hug. I look at the ring on my finger behind his neck. I put it on the same fingers as the ring Derrick gave me. I look at both of them. And tell myself to take Derricks ring off but when I go to pull it off I just can't.

We walk back to the garage and I give everyone a smile. I say,"Guys let's take a picture." Everybody herds up and I hand the camera to Tyler and say,"Here babe how bout you take a picture of me and my hillbilly redneck ass family." I smile at him when he takes the camera. "Thanks babe." I jump in the middle of all of my brothers and say,"Cheese."

We wash and scrub the fore wheelers and put them away. All my brothers come up and ask me what they should do to Tyler and I tell them all,"No worry we're back together its all good." I say with a preppy smile. Then Holly and Daniela walk over to me and see if I'm OK. I say," Yea we're all good," I say with a big smile. I stick my hand out and show them the ring with a big smile on my face. They half smile and look at me and say," How cute." but didn't seem to mean it. I shook off the thought.

We all go inside to eat dinner. Everybody stops at the door amazed at the house. I keep walking around the corner and get pulled in the theater. It was dark and took my eyes a little time to adjust to the darkness before I could see.

When my eye finally adjusted I saw Derrick hovering over me. I cross my arms and say," What do you want Derrick." He puts his hand on either side of me on the wall. Trapping me in front of him. He puts his face close to mine and says in a sexy whisper," For you to be happy." I push away the thought of his sexy voice and say rudely," I am happy. I'm happy with Tyler." Derrick puts his hand on my bruised cheek and I flinch at his touch. He says rubbing my cheek softly with his thumb ," Your happy with a boyfriend that beats you up. No. I know you Katelyn you need to be happy." He says shaking his head. "I am." I say again a little more defensive. " He puts his hands on my shoulders and says," I mean happy with me." I brake away from him and walk around the big theater. "I can't do that to Tyler I would never hurt him. To go back to a one night stand, sex before dinner guy." I say walking around not looking at Derrick. I turn my head to his stare and say," I love him."

I think it over in my head and smile at the thought. He stares at me and says with a smile,

" Remember when we we're in love." I look up at him with a smile and say," Remember when you broke my heart?" I give him a glare and walk back to the curtain door and say," Tyler may hit me but he's never caused me as much pain as you did."

I walk out of the dark room and get pushed back by the sun. I put my hand up in front of my eyes and go to find everybody. To eat dinner and be with my boyfriend.
