When we got to the hospital, Cameron and I were both rushed into rooms and examined. I explained what happened and that I was perfectly okay, but the nurse insisted that I calm down. I took deep breaths and repetitively told myself we'd be okay.
Once they knew I was okay, I sprinted to Cameron's room. My heart dropped into my stomach when I saw him being moved to a stretcher.
"I'm going into surgery. Calm down." Cam forced a weak smile and he was gone.

A few hours later, I went back to his room. He was asleep and had an IV in his arm and a blue cast from his toes to knee. I started out of the room when I heard him say, "Em, we can go home in two days." I smiled from ear to ear. "Come here," he gestured me towards him. He patted the bed. "Sit." He scooted over and I later beside him. I placed my head on his chest and looped my arms around him.
"I'm so glad you're okay." I said under my breath. He kissed my forehead and I drifted to sleep.

A long 2 days passed. Cameron was disgusted with the hospital food. When the nurses came in, he'd smile and thank them, then I'd go get him a Big Mac and he'd throw the food in the trash. When the nurse would come check up on him and ask how his food was, he'd glance at me and give a pleasing smile to the nurse and say, "It was excellent."
When it was time to drive home from the hospital, everyone was relieved. On our way home, my mom turned around from the front seat and began to apologize. I stopped her. "Mom, none of this was your fault. It was a great trip with some unplanned events. Don't feel bad, we all had fun!" I tried to reassure her. She gave a wimpy smile and turned back around.

After a month and a week, Cameron was free of his cast and could drive again. I was ecstatic. The second after his cast was removed, he took me out to eat at Olive Garden. We went to the beach and took a long walk. "Emily, sit down for a minute." He told me. I sat in the sand and he put his arm around me. "I just want to tell you that I've dated a few girls, and you know that. Sure, I liked them. Things never worked out because they'd always be rude or cheat or want me for my looks. You, you're just, different. I don't know how I got this lucky. I'm overwhelmed with emotions every time I see you. You fill my thoughts every second of every day. You're all I need. I got you something." Cameron reached in the pockets of his swimming trunks and pulled out a small ring. He grabbed my right hand and put it on my ring finger. "I want you to make me a promise." He stared into my eyes.
"Anything." I said.
"Please, don't ever, ever, EVER leave me. Always love me. Be there for me. Help me when I'm acting up. Make sure I'm always kind. Keep me with you forever."
"Cameron, I promise to do that every second of every day. I promise the world to you. You're all I've ever wanted and all I've ever needed." I smiled and kissed him. He put on a matching ring.
"Forever?" Cam asked.
"Forever." I replied and we locked pinkies.
