Chapter16-Kill The Vampire

Mya's POV.

The metal cup in front of me smelled awful. It smelled like it held rust and bleach. And I was being forced to drink it.

Darkness surrounded me. I couldn't even see the cup. I had to feel for where it was. My other four senses had to guide me as my vision was cut off.

I sniffed the cup once more before I drank its contents. Thankfully, it wasn't rust and bleach but vampire blood. I didn't care whose it was or that it was disgusting to think about. My back was killing me and I was sure my left arm was either sprained or broken. The blood would help heal my wounds. That was all I wanted at that point.

"Keep this up and we'll feed you." A voice said over the pa system. I was sure it was Alvarez as no other vampire would talk to me like that. At least, not one of Alvarez's crew.

I set the cup down and pushed it away before I curled up on the floor. While I was unconscious, they'd put a shock collar around my neck, making it impossible for me to have even a little freedom. They'd used it to wake me up and I knew they'd do it to keep me in line. If they wanted entertainment, I knew they'd do it. I just hoped they didn't get bored easily.

I screamed and took off running from my bedroom. Dad caught me and lifted me off my feet.

"Daddy, let go of me!" I yelled, trying to pry his arms off.

He laughed. "No, sweetheart. It's time for bed."

"But I'm not tired."

"You know the rules, Mya. When your mother says it's time for bed, it's time for bed."

I frowned but let him carry me back to my bedroom. "Will you tuck me in?"

"I'll stay until you fall asleep."

I crawled into my bed and pulled the pink blankets over my legs. I made sure I grabbed the teddy bear from the foot end of my bed as I settled in. Dad finished covering me up and sat down in the rocking chair that had been in my room since I was a baby.

Even though I hated to admit it, dad was right. I was tired. Not long after I was tucked in did my eyes start to droop and my body relaxed.

I whimpered as pain filled my body, waking me up from my sleep. I wasn't sure how long they let me sleep but I was still tired as I woke up. It must not have been very long.

As I opened my eyes, I saw a bright light coming through a slender crack of the door. My curiosity made me want to get up and investigate. But I didn't want to get into trouble. So I stayed put.

"Come on, Mya. I have something for you to do." Alvarez said, his voice coming from the doorway this time.

I got to my feet and wrapped my arms around myself. Alvarez wasn't one to insist on me wearing clothes. It was one of his worst qualities. Though I wasn't sure he had any good ones.

Once I reached the doorway, something cold slipped around my wrist. A handcuff. And it was attached to Alvarez.

"Let's go," He said, leading the way. We went down a long hallway that was dimly lit then he stopped at a gray door. There were several deadbolts attached to the door. He pulled out a set of keys and unlocked each one before he turned to face me. "Open the door."

"Me?"

"It's silver. Now do it."

I opened the door for him, afraid of the pain I'd feel if I disobeyed.

He led me inside and the door shut behind us. Hanging from the wall to our left was four bodies. Four vampire bodies. Jack, Alex, Eddie, and, worst of all, Michael.

Michael growled at the sight of Alvarez but he didn't move. No, he couldn't move. The chains holding him against the wall, and a foot off the ground, were made of silver.

Alvarez pulled me into the middle of the room and one of his bodyguards handed something to me. His hand was covered by a glove.

I inspected the weapon: a silver stake. He wanted me to kill a vampire.

"You're going to kill Michael." Alvarez said, his mouth close to my ear.

I shook my head quickly, tears filling my eyes. "No, no." A buzz sounded in the room just a second before pain spread from my neck. I screamed and dropped the my hands and knees, the stake rolling from hand.

"I'm going to kill you." Michael shouted, struggling against the chains.

Alvarez knelt down beside me and took hold of my chin. He tilted my face up so I had no other choice but to look at him. "Should we raise the pain?"

I whimpered, my bottom lip quivering. I was in too much pain to answer.

"Raise it." Alvarez said louder.

"No, no, I'll do it." I gasped, prepping myself for the pain. Tears filled my eyes.

Alvarez held a hand out to stop the pain from getting worse and stood up. He kicked the stake towards me. "Go ahead."

I stood up, my body shaking, and tightened my grasp on the stake. I walked toward Michael and caught his gaze.

"Don't do this, Mya." He pleaded.

"Kill him, Mya." Alvarez spoke. His voice was like silk. It was soft and quiet, like a parent's voice would be as they read their child a bedtime story. I couldn't not listen to him.

"You don't get to tell me what to do anymore." I pulled me arm back, about to put the stake in Michael, but at the last second, turned toward Alvarez.

But he was so much stronger and faster than me and he grabbed me in his arms and the stake fell to the floor. One hand held my throat, at any second capable of crushing my windpipe and killing me. He had every right to after I tried to kill him.

"You stupid humans always think you have more power than you really do." He growled.

I whimpered, trying to pry his hand away.

Alvarez moved his hand away but it was soon replaced by his fangs. As my body weakened, the hand that was on my waist loosened.

I collapsed to the floor as Alvarez let go of me, my legs too weak to hold me up. Though the shock collar hurt, I wasn't sure if I wanted it or his bite to kill me. Both would take time before they killed me.

As my eyes were closing, I saw the stake on the floor in front of me, in reach, too. I grabbed it, desperately telling myself that I had to hold on to it. All I had to do was hold on.

I pulled myself up enough that I was able to grab Alvarez's ankle and pull him to the floor. The movement surprised him and he lost his balance. Before he could say anything or anyone could stop me, I plunged the stake into his chest, pushing it in as far as my weak arms would allow.

Thankfully, that's when my body decided to shut down.
