Tyler's POV

The first person I saw when I walked into the freaking store was Joshua, and I just about walked out.

Melanie was gossiping about this guy at school who asked her to the dance last year, and because she was watching me to see if she had my full attention, she noticed when I kind of stopped breathing for a minute. Taking my hand she looks around, "Hey, dude, are you okay? What's wrong?"

I stared at Joshua, until she finally realized that it was about him.

She did a quiet squeal thing, that she does a LOT and pulled me aside grinning from ear to ear, "Oooooooohhhh, TYJO! Who is HE?!."

Cringing, I tell her everything that has happened so far and Melanie squeezes my hand so hard that I slap her arm for mercy, "Tyler, stop it right now. It doesn't matter what you saw online about him! He didn't flat out hit on you or take your money when he first met you, and that's recipe for a POLITE person. Come on, for me, will you please walk by and see if he talks to you?"

Basically choking on my spit, I retort, "Melanie, have you gone insane?! Just because that's a recipe for a polite person, doesn't mean it's still not a recipe for DISASTER."

"Oh, shut up. What could go wrong?"

"Excuse me? Um, a lot of things."

"Name one." She folds her arms across her chest stubbornly.

"I don't know Melanie, he could KILL ME."

She glares at me, "You are so sassy." With that, she pushes me towards Joshua whispering, "you have to go get some of the oranges over there, yep, go."

Taking a step forward, I hold my breath as I attempt to walk past Joshua who is leaning against the fruit shelf on his phone. As I'm almost on the other side of him he calls out, "Hey! You're Tyler right? We met the other day?"

Laughing nervously and rubbing my arm I stutter, "Um, yep, that would be me."

Giving me a hard look he puts a hand on my shoulder and stares me in the eyes, "Why are you always so uptight?" Feeing my recoil, he removes his hand and leans back again, "I'm not scary am I?"

Ignoring the butterflies and fireworks going off inside my brain, I stand up taller, "I am not uptight."

"Yeah. You are. Plus, don't you think it's ironic that we've met again here?"

I bite my lip anxiously, "Not exactly, it's the neighborhood grocery store. People need food sometimes."

Running his fingers through his messy pink hair he shakes his head, "Besides that, we've never met before and now I've seen you twice in one week? I dunno it may sound cheesy, but I believe in fate. Maybe we're meant to be friends. "

"Seriously, a badass guy like you believes in fate?" The tiny little butterflies in my stomach are making me want to throw up all over his grey jacket.

Smirking he asks, "Why do you think I'm badass?"

This whole conversation was a mistake, "It's just your, uh, vibe I guess?"

"Wow that's great to know, explains why every guy I meet thinks I'm a fuckboy."

This is all getting very awkward? Is he gay? What he just said sounded gay to me, "Joshua, right?" I change the subject.

He grabs a pear and places it in his cart, "You can just call me josh, that's what my friends call me."

"Does that mean I'm your friend?"

"Only my friends have my number."

Did someone just slap me? I think someone just slapped me, my hands shake as I take out my phone, "If you want you can put your contact into my phone."

"I'd love that."

As he holds my phone, I glance over at Melanie who is literally crying from laughter.

"Here," I take my phone back and look up at Josh who was probably two inches taller than me.

"Thanks, I'll text you sometime."

All he does is smile and wheel his cart away.

And than Melanie was there to hug me until I was less lightheaded.

Wise men say 'only fools rush in' ,

But I can't help falling in love with you.
