Ch - 18

"Oh..yes she had informed me about your Visit! Hope you made yourself comfortable during my absence..Mrs. Andrews" he inquired politely.

Yes if you havent guessed it yet......We, as in Mr. base and I are at the meeting ...making conversational small talks!!

" ohh yes i was !" She said stiffing a laugh.

" Anyways lets get to work ...so here are the papers just sign on them and you'll be officially married!"

Mr.base signed it with ease while I on the other hand had to suck in a deep thoughtful breathe and signed a min later.

Mr. base has been Unreasonably quiet and distant from the day I had offered to help !!

" Okay thank you ..I must bid farewell now ..until next time Mr . and Mrs. Base !" she said shaking our hands and walking away with her assistant.

We too walked out towards Mr. Base's car and a made ourself's comfortable.

" Ms. Waters ?" I heard a voice call my name.

" yes?"

" There is this party held tonight and it would be best if you came along !" he asked calmly.

Was it a date? Is he asking me out" It can't possibly be ..I must have heard wrong!!

" A fashion brand launching party to be exact!"

" Ohh" was all I could utter a little disappointed.... but i recovered fast and my thoughts like all women kind was..

What will I wear????

" Mmm. .and I had bought for you ...um. .a dress !" he stated awkwardly.

"Here!" he handed me several bags .

" Can I open it now " I asked looking at him briefly.

" As you wish!" he looked away.

So I did.

A long off white mermaid like evening gown with a Cut from the upper thighs till the hem of the dress sat before me.

There was also a pair of silver heels and a Case in which was placed a huge blue diamond ring, matching earings and a VERY overpowering necklace..and instantitiously my mind said.."THIS ISN'T YOU!!"

" Mr. base I cannot wear thes-ss" I said looking at the overpowering diamond set but was cut off.

" It is expected of my wife to wear these things !" It wasn't a question but rather a statement.

I couldn't help but nod unwillingly...

This was the life I had to fit into for awhile now...

When the time for the party this evening came swing by I took a quick shower and started dressing up and unlike most girls I didn't has buff to help me with my Makeup or hair....

Don't get me wrong Chair is my best friend but she has a different life with her college mates .

First I parted my hair equally and tied it into a low ponytail, My eye makeup was just the usual but I added a little eye shadow to it.

Then wore the dress.

I was stunned for a sec looking at myself through the mirror.

The dress hugged me perfectly and the diamonds completely lifted that status of the dress I wore..not that the dress was cheap looking in itself.

The slit was a little concerning but I let it slide for the evening.

"lets just hope I don't trip "I thought to myself and walked out of my room to were Mr. base stood wearing a black tux , hands in his pocket looking at the view from the glass windows.

" umm..I'm ready!" I said awkwardly looking at my silver heels.

" Ohh. .ok-kk" his words seemed to waver from its usual tone. I looked up.

He was staring at me.

I gave a nervous nod which broke him out of his revenue as fast as lighting.

" Let's go then" he walked away as quick as he could clearing his throat.

"Mr.base what a pleasure to meet you..I was in the impression that you wouldn't be attending today's event as you hardly attend social events!" The man and Mr. base conversed.

I stood beside him with my arm linked with his. He had suggested it.

" I had a special announcement to make and thought it would be best if I did it done in one of you grand parties" he answered smoothly.

"Ohh is it ....then let's not waste any time..sombody get me a mic!" he exclaim heading towards the podium with the mic handed shortly.

" Good evening ladies and gentlemen...............I would like your attention please ... my good friend and business partner Madric base would like to announce something" he finished handing the mic to Mr. base.

The crowd went silent immediately paying their uttermost attention to Mr. base.

"Thank you James.........well I wouldn't want to take too much of your time and get to the point.....The announcement is that I had finally tied the knots with that beautiful lady over there.....It had been a private affair to avoid media but at some point the beans had to be spilled so I choose this event to do it ....that's it I'll let you all carry on with the party!"

I felt lightweighted...when he started his announcement because i too should had been informed beforehand.

I could feel all the crowded eyes on me now....shocked and judgement eyes.

Whispering comments to each other with eyes hooked on me.

I felt like running away.. but before I could strong arms wrapped itself around the small of my back.

" Don't be nervous ..!" he whispered softly with a friendly smile on his face . I felt a shiver go through my spine.

"Okay !" I smiled back nodding slightly.

"Hello Madric ........" A tall ,blonde women greeted and the only way to describe her was beauty, perfection, attention- getter and arrogant.

"I'm quite offended you didn't even tell me you had someone in your life .....I'm really shocked.... I thought you were one of the sure-to-be bachelors of NY .....ohhh....hello their I'm Trisha Lawrence....A model for the brand thats launching and a very close and special friend of Madric! " she introduced clinging herself to him as if for dear life.

I felt dejected....
