Parents

Parents can be idols,
some can be dumb,
some have lots of money,
and some just aren't fun.

But no matter what,
parents need to be
helping their kids
through a their lives of misery.

Any help would be nice,
maybe comfort and a smile?
But some parents just say "Hi."
and leave out the extra mile.

Some parents are friends
or madly in love.
But some hate each other
as they punch, hit, and shove.

They scream and yell,
they say just for you.
But you simply cry,
"What has this come to?"

Why must they fight
and cause me this pain.
Why do they do this?
Is there anything to gain?

Some of us cry
in our room's all alone.
Or take care of sisters
who had been disowned.

Why did they get married?
Or have any kids?
When all they do is
fight, God forbid.

Why couldn't we be happy,
joyful an calm?
Instead we are alone,
a ticking time-bomb.

Some parents abandon
the children they once had.
They replace them like toys
and never seem sad.

This abandonment is awful.
Race might be the factor,
Or homosexuality.
These are no laughing matters.

Lies rule the lives
of the new and the old.
These children involved,
might soon grow cold.

When the lies are released,
the arguing gets louder.
The child now older wonders,
if it will ever get better.

The child talks to friends
who don't understand.
Instead they just say
they wish they weren't mad.

There is a friend whose parents
are becoming like mine.
I don't want to scare them
so I say it will be fine.

Knowing full well it won't
It will never be happy.
My life full of joy
and wonderous laughing.

Instead it will get worse,
every single day.
Until you are worrying
that you will become prey.

With no one to go to
about your pain.
It starts to add up
you begin to go insane.

Not all parents are bad,
most are actually quite great.
But just one experience
can start to make hate.

This is just a simple poem
to show family-related pain.
And to show others
that not all are the same.
