Chapter 18

Ruby's POV

The first night I spent here in this new area was alright, I stayed in that hotel but I couldn't keep spending money their so for these few weeks I've been sleeping in a homeless shelter, which is quite scary as at random times in the night this woman about 40-ish would scream out sweating as she had a mental illness, but refuses to get help, and then some will moan because they're so hungry. Don't get me wrong, we get soup and a small piece of bread at noon and then the same at 5:00 ish but it's really not enough. I have enough money to buy something like a sandwich later on in the day or a drink but I'm going to run out soon. Which is why for the past couple of days I've been going to the nearest park and sit on a bench and sing hoping that someone will give me some spare change. I've been quite lucky, but I haven made lots. I really need to try harder. I woke up early this morning so I could look to see if there was any shops looking for new employees, but it was hard luck as most wanted over 16 and i'm only 14 even if I am turning 15 in a week. I had been in the main streets for about 3 or 4 hours. I keep thinking about going back, I miss my family ,friends and Rich loads, and i know this is probably killing them, but I can't face going back, not now anyways, and If that means staying here for my birthday then so be it, even if it'll be the worst birthday ever. At this time of the day the roads are super busy, people are rushing off left right and center, so it was hard to cross the road, so I decided to stay on this side. Every time I leave the shelter I always take my bag which has everything in it, just because people steal off you and try to sell what they take, and I don't want my stuff being stolen. I decided to make my way to the park and sing for abit hoping to make some money. I sat at a bench and put one of my hats on the ground for people to put money in. Looking around there wasn't many people here, there was a family of 4 having a picnic, there was a gang of teenage lads probably about Luke and Jai's age, and then people who were taking a short cut by going through here. I took a deep breath and started to sing six degrees of separation by The Script. I was about half way through the song when people started to put some pennies in the hat. I smiled at people as they dropped the money, when I had finished they clapped and left, It was getting late and I should be getting back to the shelter by now. So I picked up the hat sat back on the bench and counted the money $7 (£4.10), not bad, It's the most I've made. I put the money in my pocket and picked up my bag and started to walk out pleased with myself, until i bumped into a familiar face. 

 Siobhan's POV

It's been too long without having your best friend with you, laughing, talking about boys. I haven't seen Luke in ages as well as he doesn't want me to come round because of Jai, as he's scared Jai will hurt me. But I don't think Luke realizes that It's hurting me not being able to see him. Just like Beau, everyday I look around for her, my parents think it's stupid that I spend so much time looking for her, my parents don't really like the Brooks, they don't like the fact that Gina is a single mum and they especially don't like that I go out with Luke. But I don't care, I love Luke and I ain't changing anything between us just for my parents to be happy with me. I met up with Liz and we set off looking around. We were always silent, because we didn't really no what to say, we're just too worried, I know Liz has taken this hard as she always said that her and Ruby were so close they're like sisters. We continued to look for ages and yet again no sight of her.

Beau's POV

After long decision making I parked my car and rushed across the road, It was so busy that I only got to the middle of the road. She started to leave and I nearly couldn't see her so I just ran out and cars emergency stopped and pipped their horns shouting, but I just gave them the finger and carried on running towards her. As I was getting closer and closer, questions filled my brain with

"What if she runs away?"

"What if she doesn't want to see/ talk to me?" 

"What if she doesn't want to come back?"

I tried ignoring the questions and focused on where she was. I could see her over the hedge so I sprinted round the corner and we both collided and fell to the ground. I must have hit my head on a fence or something as when I sat up it started to pound like mad. I rubbed my head and saw Ruby opposite me pressing on her head checking something

"What, what are you doing?"I asked

"checking for blood. What are you doing here?" She said staring at me as we both stood up, she had stopped checking her head now

"Well, what do you think? You've been gone for like 4 weeks!" I said

"That long?" she whispered looking at the ground.

"Hey, I've found you now though, you can come home" I said smiling lifting her chin up

"I don't know if I can go back Beau" She said and I saw tears forming in her eyes

"Sure you can, listen, If you come back it would help Jai out a lot, and It'll make everyone happy knowing that you're back, we love you Rubs"I said

"Whats wrong with Jai?" She asked worried, shit, If I tell her she might get scared, but she'll find out anyways though

"He, um, took you leaving really bad and started to,em, take drugs" I said

"It's all my fault" She said shocked

"No it's not, c'mon, come home, If you come home me,you and Luke can work extra hard on getting the real Jai back"I said putting my hand out for her to take

"Wait, what? what about mum?" she asked, oh god, do I tell her? I mean mum might come home knowing that Ruby's back?

"She left today, she couldn't handle Jai anymore, he, er, hit her multiple times..." I said the last bit quiter so no one would over hear

"Oh my god. Okay, I'll come home, It sounds like the whole family has gone to break point"She said. We hugged and made our way to my car,on the way there I sent a message to everyone, telling them I've found Ruby, and she's coming home. We put our seat belts on and set off, we had a long way to go which was good as we've got alot to talk about.
