When Anakin woke and Sarah, Han, and Chewbacca were gone, he almost immediately knew something absolutely terrible was going to happen. He rushed over to Obi Wan's side of the room and shook the old Jedi Master awake.
"Master, they're gone!" He said, hoping to arouse him. A door hissed open behind them, and there stood the disgruntled wookie. Behind him, stood Han. His nose was red and swollen, and bleeding profusely. "Wake up, we're going somewhere," Han ordered, and let the door slide close.
Obi Wan was finally up and moving, so they both fully dressed and left the cramped quarters. When they had entered the cockpit, Han's nose had been bandaged and cleaned, most likely by Chewbacca. "Where's Sarah?" Anakin asked once he had taken his seat.
"She flew off like the idiot she is. Now we gotta go after her!" Han said, raising his voice towards the end of his explanation. "Well, we're certainly not going to leave her alone. Let's go, Solo," Anakin ordered. Han and Chewie flipped a few switches, and soon they were on their way.
As the flight went on, Anakin took the time to meditate. Finding his center was something that used to be nearly impossible with all his emotions. Emotions were practically forbidden in the order- when the order still existed anyway.
He was always conflicted- torn between Padmè and the Jedi. Nothing ever made sense, he couldn't differentiate between right and wrong.
And then Sidious had died. Everything had seemed to slow down and make sense for the first time in a long time. The order had accepted him for what he was, and they had been open to change. But then the Stormtroopers came, and took his family and destroyed the order.
Things had been foggy ever since then. In rare moments, where hope had been there to grasp, he could clear his head and form a proper plan or solve his problems. Now was when he needed that hope.
The ship shook, jolting Anakin from his thoughts. "We're caught in the tractor beam!" Han shouted, eyes wide. "Everyone, in the cargo hold!" Anakin ordered, ushering everyone forward. They all carefully made their way, and slid underneath the grates.
"Master, what, may I ask, is going on?" C-3PO asked. Anakin sometimes wished he could leave the bucket of bolts behind, but the droid was just as excited to see Padmè as Anakin was. He couldn't deprive the droid the joy of seeing Padmè and Luke again.
If they were still ok.
Padmè:
"Let me go, you fools! I'm your leader!" Padmè struggled against the cold death grip of the Stormtroopers. "No, you are not. Now be quiet, or we'll execute the girl," one trooper said, gesturing to Sarah. "You could at least call me by my name!" Sarah chirped from her spot on the ground.
"They could at least let us go!" Leia said, anger in her tone. "I thought we were welcomed guests!" Leia continued, slamming her cuffs down on the floor.
The door on the other end of the throne room slid open, and a figure stepped out from the shadows. "Your friends just arrived," Luke smirked. "I wish they hadn't. I'm not in the mood to see Han," Sarah said, giving a small chuckle.
"Well, there is no way they can escape our tractor beam. Until then, enjoy your time here. It will be the last place you'll ever see," Luke said, but Padmè could see the pain and conflict in his eyes. "Luke..please.." She begged, hoping her boy would see sense.
"Goodbye," Luke said, sliding the mask over his head. It made a click, signaling it was sealed. Padmè was almost certain there were tears beneath the mask, but she could never be sure. Luke left the room, the door sealing behind him.
"What are we going to do?" Someone asked, she wasn't quite sure who. Emotions swirled within her. Why had her son betrayed her? The love they had for each other must still be there, right? No. Sidious had brainwashed her poor son, again. The bastard never let Luke have the life he deserved.
"I have no idea. We should have left when we had the chance.." Leia responded, glumly. Padmè sighed, knowing that for once, she could do nothing to help. "We must have hope girls. Anakin and the others, they'll have a plan. I know they will," Padmè said, trying to reassure the girls.
"Yeah. Uncle Anakin always knows what to do," Sarah stated quietly. Suddenly, the door burst open, three Stormtroopers and a wookie charging in. The tallest one yanked off his helmet, and Padmè gasped. "I'm Anakin Skywalker, and I'm here to rescue you," her husband said with a smirk.
The others yanked off their helmets to reveal an aged Obi Wan, and what must have been the Han the girls spoke of. "Princess!" Han exclaimed, running to Leia. "Han!" She shouted back, smiling.
"Padmè.." Anakin said, slowly approaching her. "Anakin.." She whispered, smiling. Anakin looked at her wrists, and used the force to release the cuffs. She reached forward at the same moment he did, and they embraced for the first time eight years.
Anakin's warmth calmed her nerves, slowly relaxing her. Then, he turned and released the others restraints. "Come on, we only have limited time," Anakin stood above the others, his voice commanding yet soft. They all stood stiffly, prepared to move.
As they ran down the dark halls, alarms sounded, startling them all. "Do you even know where you are going?" Sarah asked as blaster fire whizzed past them, narrowly missing Padme. "Yes..I think," Han said. The wookie, Chewbacca, roared beside him. "Hey!" Han shouted back.
They continued running down the hall, this time silent. Suddenly, the door in front of them closed, and a bang rang out. "Going somewhere?"
This is really coming to a close, isn't it? :( I can't decide if I want to end on chapter 20 or 25. I think if we'll do 20 though. That way I can really tie it all together.
May the force be with you-
