[[ Harry's PoV ]]
"Did you give her the ticket? Is she the reason why you bought two?" Dan asked furiously. I sighed and walked towards him on the couch.
"Yes. I did." I can't believe I paid twice the price of the ticket so that I can buy them earlier than everyone. I heard Trevor will buy her also when I saw him today in the ticket booth but I'm not sure about that, yet. But, I always knew that guy has a crush on her and Chastity is just so oblivious to not notice it. That guy is a sap. Good thing I bought tickets for her earlier so she will go with me instead of him, if ever he bought tickets for her too.
"I think you're taking this way seriously." I looked sideways and plastered a deathly glare to Dan. He chuckled at my intimidating gesture because he is used to my mood swings.
"I'm not." I sternly defended.
"I think you like her." He spoke as he continuously ignored my defense.
"I do not like her."
"Whatever, man. Just remember that you put yourself into this." He scoffed as he held up both of his hands. Even if Dan is one annoying prick, he has that sense where he knows that whatever he said came out to be true. I once asked if he knew some sorcery for his fortunetelling skills but he denied and told me that sometimes I was easy to read especially when I'm with someone I'm comfortable with. This is why I put my guards up whenever I'm with Dan and he can sense my problems.
I rolled my eyes at him and stayed silent until other students came into the booth and asked for fake tattoos. Dan helped me accommodate them and get the work done. The time pass by slowly and every minute that passes seems like a curse. Today, I can leave the booth early to attend the practice for the Sports Fest tomorrow. It was already three in the afternoon when we decided to start packing up.
"How long do you have to do it?" Dan asked out of nowhere as we start to close up the booth. Even if he didn't mention it, I know what he's talking about.
"I don't know." I said. "Maybe until my father knows how to tell it."
The moment those words left my mouth, guilt spreads throughout my body. I can't believe I'm doing this or did this. I feel like inhuman because of following my father's orders and falling into the trap my father had given me just for the position in the company. I could have said no, but I was a coward and I want my father to be proud of me. Even if it has to be in a greedy way.
"You know, if you really want the position, why don't you just show up in the building and do some job." He said. "I mean it's just a suggestion."
"He wants me to get the merger and I can do that by convincing Mr. Tames that we are worth it. I have to show him we are." I stated as he listened carefully. Dan is the only one who knew about my deal with my father. I trust him to not tell anyone even our other friends. I trust Dan with all my life.
"You deserve it, to be the CEO. If your father didn't give you the position – pardon my language – f.uck him." We both chuckled and continued doing our work. When we finished packing up, Dan spoke, "Do you want to come and have early dinner with us?"
"I can't, I have practice." I reminded him.
"Oh, yeah. Good luck tomorrow. Beat Jordan's a.ss. I hate that guy."
After the grueling practice in the indoor court, I finally managed to take a shower and out to the walkway to the dormitory building. It's past seven in the evening and I haven't ate since this afternoon before attending the practice, which consists of two sandwiches and one can of soda – and the frequent drinking of water while practicing.
