FORGIVE ME!

[[ Harry's ]]

My father was livid.

I knew it the moment I step foot over the threshold of his office. Someone might have told him, the university, of course, that I have been expelled for violating a school regulation. He firmly believe and follow rules. I remember growing up with my father's eyes lurking and watching over my every move. It feels like I'm on house arrest ever since I was in High School. I was barely allowed to go out unless it's an important school activity – he knows whether I'm lying or not because he has a direct connection with my school principal – for short it was horrible.

Attending College has been a breath of fresh air for me. I was able to do what I want and go out whenever I want to. But I guess sometimes I'm used to rather stay in the dormitory than go and hang out. Even if I know I have this thing called freedom, my father has a way of knowing whether I did something wrong while I'm in College. He will not stop bugging me about education until I get that paper with my name on it stating that I have completed my degree.

I walked towards his desk, without him looking up, and sat on one of the dark leather armchairs situated in front of his desk. When a second or so passed by without him looking up from the paper he has on his hands, I cleared my throat purposely to get his attention and to have his inevitable sermon finished as soon as possible.

"I know the reason for your expulsion so I'd rather not lie beforehand." My father straightforwardly muttered. He placed the papers he was reading on the side of the desk and looked at me with a hard expression on his face. "Why did you even let that girl stay in your dormitory even if you knew it's prohibited?" He asked coldly.

"The name of 'that' girl is Chastity." I explained exasperatingly. "I let her stay in the dormitory because she had no place to stay. The rooms are all taken and it would be very atrocious of me not to accept her."

"Well, you could have let her stay for a few days and help her find a room, but you what? You let her stay for the whole semester and even up to now. Don't act like I don't know where you have been up to last Christmas." My father irritably stated. I immediately looked away from his fiery eyes because I know I have no way out. Yes, I could have helped her find a room, but I don't always admit that I find her company and presence comforting ever since she lived with me. I'll probably never tell that to anyone. Plus, about the Christmas break, how the hell did he know?

"I want you to straighten up yourself, Harry. Your mother was worried sick when you didn't pick up your phone last Christmas Eve. The least that you could do is tell us where you've been but Shay was the one who told us where you were." He added.

"Oh, so it was Shay who told you." I sarcastically replied. I was annoyed that Shay have to meddle into my life all the time. I would have appreciated it back then but now I find her concern and need to know about my whereabouts unnecessary and ridiculous. "She lied to me that she was in trouble last Christmas so I immediately went to her house to check out on her but all those days I stayed with her, when she was 'sick', was all a nasty lie. I'm sure she's also the one who tipped us off to the Chancellor." I said with my tone increasing as I carried on my explanation.

"If she did then it was the right thing to do." My father snapped.

"I don't need her trailing after me like a lost puppy because I can handle myself without her nose sticking everywhere I go and in whatever I do."
