"What?" I ask, my mouth gaping open. Harry that was between us is now backed away, holding me tight.

"Yes." Jack says, all the rage oozing out of him, being replaced with regret. He tries to catch his breathe, his hand puts his glass down, his body falls to the couch.

I am trying to catch my breathe too. The man I loved as my father, is not my father?

Harry looks at me, eyes wide, not knowing what to do.

"What?" I ask again this time. I can feel the lumps forming in my throat. What the actual fuck is happening right now?

"I shouldn't have told you-" he starts to ramble, putting a hand in between his brows and panting.

I stop. The man I looked up to, spent my whole life with is not my dad?

"I guess its too late for that!" I say back, harshly. His head snaps up with my tone.

"Jack, how did this- What?" I ask again. I need some explanation.

"It can't be right. You can't be my dad!" I say as I start to pace across the room. Harry is being awfully quiet, frozen, unable to do anything.

"It was an accident!" Jack says. Oh my god. He really is my father.

"You are Alex's biological father?" Harry asks again. We both are having trouble believing it.

"For fucks sake yes! Yes! I am! Have you not noticed how different Avery and Alex look? Your dad was blonde Alexandra! Your mother had light brown hair with blue eyes. You and me, we both have the same shade of thick, course brown hair, we both have the same green eyes!" Jack cries out and for just one second, I see the resemblance.

We do have the same shade of hair, the same shade of green in our eyes. My dad was blonde, just like Avery... Even when we were kids, when we went out as a trio, everyone thought me and Oliver were siblings, not me and Avery...

"My mom and you?" I ask again. This is too much to take at one bite.

"Yes." Jack says and I remember him telling me about the love of his life. He met my mother when they were both young, my mother was his young love. He told me she was in a happy place with the man she loves. Oh fuck. He meant heaven with my dad.

"I need to know what happened." I say, still not wanting to believe the fact that he is my birth father.

"I need to know everything." I say as I sit down on the couch, Harry's hands clasping mine tightly.

"You sure?" He asks and I nod. He downs his drink, takes a deep breathe and starts.

"Me and your mother met at university. I was immediately smitten. She was the most beautiful woman I have ever seen. She had the same freckle on her lip like you do, she had this flow of amazing blonde hair, she was so beautiful. She fell in love with me too. We promised each other to get married the moment college was over." Jack says and his eyes turn glossy. He stops for a breathe and I impatiently wait for him to continue.

"Senior year, she met your dad. It was at a seminar or something. I shouldn't have let her go to those stupid things. Anyways, your dad, well, Chris and your mom became friends. Later on, she introduced him to me. I could see there was a connection between the two but I was confident in the love Sophia had for me. One night, at a college party, I blacked out and kissed a cheerleader, thinking it was Soph. She never forgave me. She left me, ran away with Chris." Jack wipes under his eyes at this point. I turn and look at Harry. If he had left me for Jace kissing me, I would have died.

"Later on, a year after we graduated, she contacted me. Told me she was getting married. I was happy for her. All I wanted was her to be happy so I went to the wedding. Chris and I made peace and your mother forgave me. We started to work together. We earned a lot of money. I saw her everyday and somehow I was okay with that. I was glad she was happy. Around that time I met Oliver's mom. I got married and your mother was right by my side. We were friends. Thats what we thought." Jack says as he takes another drink. He has been drinking for a while now but I don't think any booze will soothe the pain in his chest.
