I was listening to the waters gurgle so I didn't hear the laughter, the forced laughter, my brothers or the horses hooves. Right until one almost knocked me over.
'I bet I can jump over the-'
'SAOIRSE!!! Get out of the way of your boyfriend!' someone screamed behind me. But obviously I wasn't listening.
'No William! You will knock over the deaf boy!' exclaimed a lady's voice behind me. That snapped me out of my trance.
'I'm not deaf!' I said. Then, and only then, did I hear the laughter, the forced laughter, my brothers and the horses hooves. And only one thing came to mind. 'You will be leaving tomorrow...'
Williams stallion was galloping straight at me. I didn't have time to run, and I wasn't all that fast, so I jumped back. Fortunately away from Star's hooves, unfortunately into water.
It was a clear jump, I'll give him that, I thought...
I got out of the water, only to be screamed at to hit the dirt.
Star's hooves were once again, only inches from my head. I was angry. The first time I understand, was an accident. The second? I wasn't so sure. I was tired, wet and coled and the moon was on it's way up the sky.
I drew my sword, my brothers and the horses took a step back, I knew Star was already a nervous horse, but William was not getting away with this.
'Get off your horse,' I said calmly to him.
'I'd rather not,' he replied.
'And why is that?!'
'I'd rather not get killed tonight.'
'Well if it is not tonight, it might be of a demons bite, or a poisoned heart or maybe a splintered bone!' I screamed, my voice escalating on every word.
'Saoirse!' Harry said in a voice so alike mothers I faltered.
'Saoirse?' Elizabeth asked, face screwed up in confusion
'What is it Harry?!'
'You know what he means,' said David in a very quiet voice.
'Well they're supposed to come anyway!' I said.
Everyone looked bewildered, and I remembered I hadn't told anyone.
I sheathed my sword and sat down. From there I explained from the start, David putting in some details I'd forgotten, which wan't much. As Sun turned to Moon Harry gathered dry leaves and logs, but we had no way to light it
By the end of it Elizabeth was willing to go but William was fuming.
'You expect me to believe in dragons? And magic?!'
I nodded wearily. Shivering in my still wet clothes.
'Well the answer is no!'
'Do you need proof?' Harry asked.
'No! What proof can you offer anyway?! Magic isn't real!'
One look at my brothers and I knew what was to be done.
As one, we stood, the full moon behind us. As one we un-sheathed our swords and spoke their names one by one.
