Chapter 11~

Saoirse's  Point of view-

The dress cut into my thighs but I kept running. Tears blocked my vision, but I could hear shouts and screams of my friends. I stumbled and fell. My vision went black and I jolted awake in a cold sweat.

'Are you okay,' he whispered.

'Yes,' I tried to answer back but it caught in my throat. 'No,' I croaked.

He knew me too well to come any closer. It had been Suns since we had fought the Raiders but I was broken and I wasn't healing. Nearly losing him had ripped me apart. I felt that I was losing him, which was impossible because here we sat. Together.

I sobbed harder into my knees. I never cried. Ever. In all our lives David cried more than I. And he barely cries.

He sat closer to me and draped his arm arm around me, as if protecting me, which beyond the Pails was impossible. The dark lurked everywhere, behind every tree or in every corner or-

That's not true.. said the little scaly voice in my head.

Maybe not but I'm talking to myself. A sure sign I'm insane, I thought to myself.

I'm not you, I'm me. We are different but the same. I am the half and end of your quest...

Enough riddles. Tell me what will happen!

No reply.

I had stopped crying and David was looking at me with anticipation.

'Vision?' I asked him.

'Voices?' he asked.

'Yes,' we answered in unison.

'We need to leave now.'

'I agree.'

'I need to change.'

'It is splattered with blood.'

'Your blood does give a lovely pattern to it don't you think?'

'Honestly? No. But being my scary twin? Absolutely!'

'I'm not scary,' I scowled.

'With a sword you are.' He smiled, his rosy cheeks lighting up in the moonlight.

'Shut your fang hole and turn around!'

He laughed and turned as I pulled the filthy dress over my head and pulled on my spare breeches and shirt.

The meadow was quiet and peaceful. The waterfall could still be heard though we were a Sun away from it. In the distance the Screaming Forest could be seen at full sun and heard screaming at witching hour.
