Chapter Five-Karate & Narwhals

Star's-I mean, Marco's POV!

It was just like I expected...

Ludo and his small gang of monsters were waiting in my backyard, which was what they usually did, when they plucked up the courage to try and steal the wand.

I darted down the stairs as fast as I could and met Star in the kitchen.
"Have you seen Jackie anywhere, Marco?" She asked, almost desperately. "I can't find her anywhere!"
"She's missing? Argh...um, okay! Let's go and beat these guys up real quick and then we'll go and find Jackie" I suggested, as the two of us walked outside into the crisp nightime air.

"Star Butterfly, we're back for the wand! Once I get my hands on it, I'll-" Ludo began, sinisterly; but Star totally cut him off.
"Yeah, Yeah...yada, yada! We've heard it all before, Ludo. Let's just get this over with! C'mon!" She shouted, her hand going straight to her yellow star-shaped pouch to reveal her signature weapon.

If it were there, of course.

"Star, different bodies, remember?" I reminded her, quietly; so that the monsters couldn't find out our current weakness.
"Oh yeah, right...I totally forgot about that!" She replied, grinning at me.
"Please, don't do that..."
"So, how do I karatay, Marco?"
"What do you mean, Star? And why did you put so much empthasis on 'karate'?"
"Karatay. How do I do it?"
"Uh...well, you just kick and punch, stuff like that; more importantly, how do I use your wa-"
I looked up mid-sentence and saw a large black, burly monster standing over us, it held a huge wooden club too...
"Move it!" I shouted, pushing Star away and then jumping backwards myself; avoiding the monster's attack.

I picked myself up off the ground, noticing five monsters, darting at me and another five charging at Star.
"Great...Now I'll never know how to use the wand..." I muttered, as faced my multiple opponents. "Guess, I'll just do it the old-fashioned way"
I started to flat out sprint towards the hordes of monsters, but the next thing I knew, I was lying facedown on the ground!
'Should've seen that coming...I guess you really can't run in a dress...' I thought, as I wiped the dirt from Star's face. 'It's a shame, but I guess I'll have to resort to doing that...'
Quickly rummaging through Star's pouch, I found her pair of Dimensional Scissors and cut a rip in the left side of Star's lime- coloured dress.
"Okay, that feels much better! Now, bring it on!" I said, confidently; as I ran at the monsters once again.

Star's POV
"Karatay! Karatay! Karatay!" I shouted in between each punch that landed a hit on a monster.
Was it working? Was I karataying?
I wanted to see how Marco was getting along, but I was physically unable to take my eyes off of my own battle.

Still, this felt amazing! It was totally different than firing off spells from a distance! Maybe I would get Marco to teach me karatay properly tomorrow...
His body reacted almost automatically to every attack the monsters launched it, dodging them all with suprising ease.
It was totally crazy to beleive that Marco was this good at fighting!

"Star! The wand! How do I use it?" He suddenly shouted from the other side of the backyard.
"Um...you get the wand..." I shouted back, dodging a punch from a monster.
"Yeah, I think I've figured that part out"
"And then all you do is shout 'Narwhal Blast' as loud as you can!"
"No way! That's so embarssing, though!"
"You do want to use the wand, right Marco? Karatay!"
"Fine...Narwhal Blast!!!"
"Hehehe...I'm just kidding. You can't use the wand like that, it was pretty cute, though!"
"Star! Seriously!"
"Okay, Okay...just think about narwhals coming out of the wand and it should work!"

Marco's POV
'Alright! It's all or nothing!' I thought, as I imagined a beam of narwhals erupting from the wand.
"Damn it...Narwhal Blast!" I hollered, as I felt myself get rocket-propelled backwards straight into the many branches of a tree.

I poked my head out of the tree to see my backyard in a total mess! Random narwhals were flopping around and Ludo and his minions were scuttling back into their portal.

Phew...
Looks like I did it!
