I had recently turned eighteen. Three or four years had passed since I joined the Goodie Gang.
For some reason, business was booming.
There was a spike in the productivity of supernatural entities all around Orleans.
As if all the bad in the world was being drawn towards the city.It started small, imps, blights, familiars.
Then came the big guns.
You never know what you'd come across walking alone at night. Now, you can meet people in all sorts of ways.
Introduction.
Interaction.
Eye contact. They say it's dangerous to look into a vampire's eyes.
They're...hypnotic.
Their eyes trap yours and keep your gaze locked onto them.
Beautiful.
Powerful.
Deadly.Three years of strict monster hunting had left its impact on me.
I knew what was coming. I knew how to avoid it.I headed down the crowded sidewalk when an uneasy feeling settled over me as I walked ahead.
Then, I saw them.Like two fucking sex gods straight from European mythology, they walked side by side through the crowd. Their movements were fluid and their strides were confident.
Both were wearing black and they gave off almost a regal presence. They walked in the direction opposite of mine and were closing in at their own leisure.
They wore matching smirks as they slowed down slightly, their movements purposeful as they observed me.We regarded each other as we approached one another.
I knew what they were.
They knew what I was.I could feel their eyes on me.
Sizing me up.
Calculating my movements.
Well, at least the girl was.
The boy just shamelessly stared at my chest before looking slightly disappointed at the size or, well, lack of size I had to display.I glared pointedly at him and his eyes moved back up my body to make eye contact with me.
I looked away quickly.
My hand clutched into a fist as he chuckled.
I regarded the girl. She smirked and cocked a brow at me.
I avoided eye contact.
Her demeanor gave off an eery vibe.
The silence only increased the feeling that I should be wary of her.Overcome with a moment of pride and impulse, I tilted my head up proudly, making brief eye contact with one, and then the other.
Impression.
Surprise.
Amusement.
That was what went through their eyes as I gazed proudly into them. And then, the two created a slight distance between them, forcing me to walk in a gap between them as we all passed one another.
Intimidation.I walked away and waited for a bit before glancing over my shoulder.
Even though we had only walked past one another seconds before-
They were gone.I turned to face ahead and continued walking.
The sudden influx of monsters was becoming annoying."All I wanted was to come here for a damn cheeseburger and now I've got more vamps up my ass than I can count." I grumbled to myself as I entered a diner.
I began to get the feeling I was being watched as I sat down.Even after I placed my order, ate, and left, the feeling never left me.
Somebody was pulling a complete fucking creeper and stalking the shit outta me.
I walked back down the sidewalk towards the large parking garage where I had left my car.
The building stood about three levels high of cement.
At the time, it was practically deserted.I had parked my car on the third floor.
I jogged up the stairs on the side of the building to enable access to the floor my car was on, attempting to ignore the bad feeling gnawing away inside of me.
