Only about two months after we adopted Leah, I found my one true love.
Oh yeah.
I have a true love.
My brave, daring, sleek knight in shining armor. My Black and Red 1970 Pontiac GTO.
The only man in my life.
My baby. Now, like all good romance stories go, ours was a forbidden love.
I found the beautiful brute in an empty parking lot. It seemed as if the world stopped and I found myself solely focused on the gorgeous car ahead of me.
But alas...he belonged to a man.A man that held the keys to his ignition.
Yet, I was Juliet, and that car was my Romeo.
And I wasn't going to let some stupid son of a bitch who paid for the metal hunk stand in my way.
Ain't nobody got time fo' dat.Oh yeah, I was a woman in love and I wasn't gonna let anyone touch my man.
And by man, I mean car.So, I did the only thing any perfectly sane person would do.
I tracked down the car's owner and pick pocketed him.
I mean, I wasn't going to risk breaking into the car. That might've damaged the exterior.I was walking back to the car, juggling the keys in my hand and recalling what had specifically drawn me towards it.
It was a nice car.
A very nice car.
But, I guess you could say the model had some...personal importance to me.'A little girl jumped into the tattered front seat of the 1970 Pontiac GTO.
"C'mon Dawnie! Get in the car!" She laughed.Blonde hair, freckles, and two colored eyes, the girl appeared to be about eight years old.
The door on the passenger side opened and a six year old clambered in.
"Faith-what're you doing?" She asked.
"I'm having some fun!" The eight year old, Faith, laughed.
"Faith-"
"Dawnie, cmon! It's perfectly safe!" Faith laughed. The other little girl regarded her with her dark brown eyes. "Faith-" she pleaded.
The older girl ignored her, putting the keys in ignition. She stood slightly so she could reach the gas pedal. "Switch to first for me, Dawnie!" She laughed.'Dawnie' sighed and nodded, taking the stick shift to first.
This exchange continued until the two girls were safely in the car which was barreling down the interstate at 97 miles per hour.
"Faith! You're crazy!" The younger girl cried.
Faith just grinned, feeling happy.
Free.
Alive."I know."'
I unlocked the car and hopped in, sinking back into the black leather seat.
I looked around at the interior and smirked.
This car was my baby.
That's all I was thinking of as I drove through the city, weaving in and out of traffic at highly illegal speeds. And then, I made the biggest decision of my life.
I named him.I named him, 'Stud'.
Now, when I returned to the hunter's house, that's when I encountered the real mess.
"Holy water! Get the holy water!" Thomas shouted loudly as I stepped into the house. "Someone get the purified blood and the bible!"
Leah and Vanessa were running around, scrambling to find supplies as loud roars echoed throughout the house.
Demon.
Powerful one, at that.
The noise suggested it was in the bunker below the house. That in turn gave me the conclusion we were performing an exorcism.
Because, the only reason you'd lock a demon in an underground bunker is to contain it.
And the only reason your contain it is to exorcise it. I mean, what else would you do with it? Hold hands and sing Kumbaya while skipping off into the sunset?
