Chapter 2
Four Years Later
It’s been four years since the night Drew saved me and I’m thankful for him every day. He helped me in any way I needed help. I lost contact with everybody, they all just assumed I was dead, and that’s how I wanted it to be. I did feel horrible for losing contact with my brother and Shawn, but it’s what I wanted and also needed. Drew didn’t approve, but he never stopped me. I felt free for the first time in my life, and I would be lying if I said I didn’t take advantage of this freedom.
Drew got me private tutors for the last few months of my high school education, and now I have tutors to help me get through “college”. It’s amazing that I don’t need to actually go to college to get my degree. I was studying to be a photographer, and was doing well at it too, my grades were all perfect. I only had one more year of this before hopefully starting my career.
My father was sent to jail after being found guilty for the killing of my mother and the “disappearance” of me. I changed my name to Lily Szar so no one could find me. I dyed my long black hair blonde and bought blue contacts for when I went out in public. Just that little act made me unrecognizable. Drew was astonished when he saw the new me. It was like I was a totally different person.
He gave me anything I wanted, I’m not materialistic, and he just loved giving me things. He bought me a motorcycle as a graduation present; he gave me jewelry, designer clothes, and the latest electronics. I didn’t know how he got the money for all the things, but I never asked. It wasn’t my business in the first place. We moved shortly after the incident to a bigger house in a different state. It was like a mansion, we had many rooms, lots of space for parties, and we also had maids. I felt like a princess. I used to live in Virginia, now we live in California and I loved it here. The parties, the freedom, and especially the beaches. The beautiful white sand and crystal clear waters; it was the most beautiful thing in the world. Drew always compared it to me, he told me the sea never even came close to my beauty. I always asked him why he was doing this for me, I’m just a girl with a messed up past. He always replied by saying, “You deserve the best. That’s exactly what you’re going to get.”
I was studying my geometry in my room when I heard the door open. I looked up to see Drew leaning against the door frame. He looked good today in a pair of faded jeans, white shirt, black leather jacket and black combat boots. His hair was in his face which made him look even better, and his green eyes were boring into mine while he looked like he was amazed.
“Do you need something?” I asked.
He smiled and sat next to me on the bed. After the first two months with him, I got comfortable, and now I can be near him and touch him without a panic attack. It wasn’t easy doing it though, but he really was a big help.
“I have something to tell you, but don’t kill me, ok?” He asked looking uncomfortable.
I got a little nervous. “What is it?”
