“Beautiful, we are going to miss the plane if you don’t get your butt down here right now.” I heard Drew yell. I looked at myself in the mirror and smiled. My long blonde hair was up in a ponytail with little strands framing my face; I was wearing no makeup because Drew said it would be very sunny. I wore a white sun dress that went to my knees and matched it with white flats. “Jewel.” He called out. Oh no, I better hurry. He never uses my first name unless he’s being totally serious.
“I’m coming, Drew.” I yelled out, walking quickly down the stairs and to the front door where an impatient looking Drew was waiting; tapping his foot.
“Took you long enough.” He said with a smile.
“I’m sorry; I just wanted to make sure I looked nice.” I said as I walked out to the limousine. Drew wrapped his hand in mine, and I reveled in the warm feeling I got.
“You always look great.” He said opening the car door for me. I jumped in and scowled.
“It’s not nice to lie.” I told him trying to look upset, but I couldn’t keep the smile off my face. He always knew what to say.
“I’m not lying. I would have you in a pair of sweats and a T-shirt any day. You’re so beautiful.” He said with so much love in his eyes it almost knocked me off the seat.
“You’re so sweet, Drew.” I wrapped my arms around his neck and kissed his cheek. He kissed my neck making goose bumps rise on my skin.
“Are you excited for this trip?” He asked smiling broadly.
“So excited. But I wish you would’ve let me see what it looked like, and told me where exactly we are going.” I told him crossing my arms.
He had an amused look on his face before it turned sad and angry. Whoa, what was with the mood change? “You ok, Drew?” I asked wrapping my hand around his.
His eyes softened and he wrapped me in his arms. “I’m so happy to get you out of here. This trip is going to be amazing.” He said kissing my forehead. He held onto me tightly, like I was going to run away. He’s been like that all day, holding onto me, or watching me closely like I was going to go somewhere. I didn’t know what was going on with him, but I didn’t really mind it. It was his business, not mine.
“Can you tell me how we are getting there?” I asked looking up at him.
“We are taking a plane to an island close by the one we are going to, and then take a boat the rest of the way. We won’t be there until morning, so you can sleep on the plane.” He looked around the limo before saying, “Did you bring our bag?”
I hooked my thumb behind us, pointing towards the trunk. He smiled and nodded his head. “Make sure to grab it before the flight attendants grab our other bags.” He said sitting back and closing his eyes. I nodded and laid my head on his shoulder. What felt like a minute later, I felt myself being lifted. I shot awake and almost screamed, but when I saw Drew, it died in my throat.
