Gianna and I walked down the stairs to the cafeteria.
"Can you believe how much homework they gave us today? It's like they think that our lives revolve around school!" Gianna complained.
"I know right! I mean, come on! He told us to write a bio about all the Beatles. And then Harmswell gave us 2 pages of homework. What's up with that?"
"Ugh.... I know! And I already told my sister I was gonna watch a movie with her."
"How many sisters do you have anyway?"
"Two. Becky's 18 and Lucy's 5. Hey, you should come to my house sometime! My mom won't mind."
"Ok, cool. How about I come over Saturday afternoon?"
"Sounds good."
We walked to the table where Sofia was sitting. She was flagging us down, her bracelet adorned arms waving in the air.
"Hey guys!" She said when we got there.
"Hey."
Another girl was sitting at the table; I didn't recognize her from any of my classes. But Gianna walked over to her immediately and hugged her.
She looked over at me," Oh Aria! This is Roxanne, she's one of my friends from middle school."
The girl, Roxanne, looked at me up and down.
Her dip-dyed purple hair was pushed behind her ears, showcasing her multiple piercings. Her brown eyes are sharp; the total opposite of Gianna's soft brown ones.
She coolly looks me up and down then gives me her approval: "Sup."
"Hey."
We all get up and get into the lunch line to grab some chips and a sandwich.
We all sit down and Sofia starts talking about one of her older sisters.
"And then she poured the smoothie down my back! Can you believe it?!"
"Damn! I need to meet this girl," Roxanne laughs.
Gianna and I crack up, imagining the look on Sofia's face.

I finish eating my sandwich and pull out my sketchbook.
I pull out a pencil and sketch out a head. I add the girl's nose and mouth, drawing a hoodie to cover her eyes. I add the texture and just build on the drawing from there.
"So is this Aria?" A voice says behind me.
"Yeah."
"Dude! I approve!"
I turn around and see Zane and a sandy-haired guy walking toward our table.
When Zane sees me, he walks faster and plops into the seat next to me.
He looks at the drawing and simply says,"Cool."
Next to him, Sofia stares at him with her mouth hanging open and her eyes wide.
Zane looks at her tentatively.
"Uhh... Hi...", he says.
Sofia gasps out loud and faints dead on the spot.
Everyone at the table jumps up and rushes to where Sofia is.
"Is she ok?" Zane's friend asks.
"Yeah, don't mind her," Roxanne answers.
"I knew I was gorgeous, but I didn't know I was drop-dead gorgeous," Zane mutters.
We all go back to where we were sitting while Zane's friend is talking to Roxanne. I pick up pieces of their conversation.
"I like your hair."
"Hmm? Thanks," Roxanne says coolly.
Gianna and I exchange a glance, smirking at each other.
"Well, let's take care of her," she says, pointing at Sofia.
Roxanne grabs her water bottle and pours it onto Sofia's face.
Sofia gasps and jumps awake. She looks around like she's never seen a school before.
"Wha? Where? What?," she sputters.
Zane bends down next to Sofia.
"Hey, are you ok?"
Sofia's eyes widen and she falls back.
Gianna bends down and then says ,"She's out cold."
"Damn Zane!" His friend whoops.
"Oh, this is Rocky. My bro-guy." Zane gives the sandy-haired guy a fist bump.
"Bro-guy?" I giggle under my breath.
"Boys," Gianna laughs.
The bell for fourth period rings over us.
We all grab our stuff and head to our next class.
