"Huh?! Wha?" I look around in confusion, my mouth sill hanging open.
I look to Dad for him to explain.
"This is Richard Roster's son, Zane. He'll be helping you with your control training. He's around your age so he'll be able to give you a realistic situation in which you have to exercise control. You'll have to practice with him after you're done training with Elliyot. Speaking of which, you'll be starting weapons training. So practice your summoning."
My father smiles at me like he knows a joke that he can't wait to share.
I look at Zane, surprised.
"You're a reaper? Seriously?"
"Yep," he grins.
Then I remember when Harmswell called Zane Mr. Roster.
How could I have been so stupid? Honestly!
I look at my dad."You didn't tell there were other reapers at my school."
"I didn't think I needed to."
I glare at Zane. "Why didn't you tell me?"
He smirks."I didn't think I needed to."
This is what I skipped art for? An arrogant pretty boy? Who's supposed to tutor me? ARE YOU FREAKING. SERIOUS?!?
I pinch myself to make sure I'm not dreaming.
Ugh, just my luck. Not a nightmare.
I frown and look around the room and meet my dad's eyes.
"Ok Dad. Since we're done, can we go home? I have a lot of homework to finish."
"Sure, let's go."
As I walk out, Zane grins and waves at me. I glare back at him, and he just grins wider.

As soon as I get home, Riel's already asking questions.
"So how's your new tutor? Dad told me it's Zane Roster." He smirks at me.
I glare at him. "In other words, I've got a dunce for a teacher,"I grumble.
"Now, now Aria. Mind your manners," Riel wags his finger at me. "Besides, Zane's not that bad. He's pretty chill."
"If you think he's cool, then I know he's an idiot."
"Hey!"
I race up the stairs giggling, looking down at Riel. He sticks his tongue out at me like a five-year old.
I unpack my backpack and pull out all the homework I have to finish. I pull out my earbuds and plug them in as I start my homework.

After I finish, I go downstairs for some food and see a girl with long, blonde hair laughing with Riel.
"Christa! Hey, you didn't tell me you were coming!" I grin. I go over to hug her.
"Maybe that's cuz you aren't her boyfriend," Riel says.
"Shut up Riel. It's a shock that you got a girl at all," I retort. He sticks his tongue out at me again.
Christa laughs. She has the same hair as her mom but her face is just like Jameson's. She's a guardian, just like her parents. She stops rouge reapers and she has the power to stop any deaths that aren't supposed to happen.
If only she could've stopped me, I think bitterly. I quickly banish the thought and head to the kitchen.
Riel and Christa laugh about something else as I walk in to get a snack. I walk back upstairs and settle into my bed, earbuds plugged in, just as Christa walks in.
She sits at the edge of my bed and grins at me.
"Riel tells me you have a boy problem."
I blush beet red. Oooh, Riel. I'm sooo gonna get you back.
"I don't have a 'boy problem'," I huff.
She grins at me. "You sure? Because it looks like you do."
"Really? How?"
"First, you're blushing. Second, you're denying. Third, I'm a girl. Girls always know these things, especially when it comes to other girls."
"Ok. There's a guy-"
"That you like?"
"Blech! No! You didn't let me finish!"
"Please, do go on."
"Anyway, there's this guy-"
"Named?"
"Christa!"
"Sorry, sorry. Anyway...," she gestures at me to go on.
"Anyway. He's always talking to me or being annoying. Now he has to be my tutor!"
"Who is he anyway?"
"I'm sure Riel told you."
She grins at me. "Still sharp as a tack."
"You should give him a chance though. Who knows? Maybe it'll work out."
I roll my eyes. As if.
"Well, my dad's outside. See ya later!" Christa waves at me as she leaves.
"Bye."
I settle back down and pop my earbuds in and close my eyes.
